INTRODUCTION
Life forces and originality are two concepts that are under massive pressure these days. Knowledge production and the way we apply conceptual frameworks is leading to uncertainty and disrupted relationships to valuable thoughts and ideas. Life forces and originality are no longer to be seen as the most important factors in life. They have been replaced by opinions and general considerations – approaches where the knowledge industry is given up on forces of coherency.
This book is providing readers with a specific knowledge about how to reconcile with life forces and originality. The conceptual framework of this book is based on an analysis of various philosophical thinkers who contribute with methodological ideas on how to develop a distinctive leadership capability, which is basically a practice of a pre-sensation skill, manifesting it self by approaching leadership as a philosophical inquiry of the becoming.
I am analyzing each individual philosopher’s reflection on life force and I distil the originality of each individual thinker with regard to their’ contribution to methodological ideas where they provide us with suggestions on how to revitalize thought processes that stimulate life forces and originality. Besides this specific analysis, the title of the book is also indicating a framework with an evolutionary perspective on how a pre-sensation skill is developed and how philosophy is the very essence of leading by thought development being capable of transferring thoughts.
Moreover, the book creates the field of Philosophical Leadership, by illustrating the individual philosophical practice by real life examples. The examples throughout the book do not necessarily constitute empirical evidence for philosophical thoughts and ideas, but they do illustrate how the individual approaches are distinguished in terms of practicing philosophy.
The idea is to carry out an analysis of what life forces might be and furthermore explore how the individual philosopher illustrates originality, followed by a comprehensive process of inspiration along certain lines of thinking. Those lines of thinking are the maturing part of the process. They take time to grasp, and they generate enduring processes.
Philosophy seems to be a fundamental source of knowledge that ensures the integration of processes by linking previous thinking to the next level. The focus is an educating philosophy where people become aware step by step.
When we move this project the next level of reflections, the process becomes a philosophical inquiry on how to endure life forces and originality of the humanity. The book is therefore written in a philosophical tone of voice and pays attention to philosophy as a leadership practice having the reflections grounded in the soil of thought development.
My selection of individual philosophical thinkers for this book has been carried out with a certain attention to the practice of philosophy. They all generate a style of their own and they create awareness about how a pre-sensation skill can be activated and developed, applying their individual philosophical approach. From that perspective philosophy masters insights based on creative thinking on how to develop a pre-sensation skill.
The pre-sensation skill is a key concept in the understanding of solving grounded social issues and at the same time developing Philosophical Leadership. The pre-sensation skill is likely to be seen as a capability of the senses where present events emerge as a reflection of a future stream of consciousness - regardless whether this stream of consciousness is possible to verify or not. The clarity of the pre-sensation is a very strong individual experience of being awakened and guided towards a new time in life.
The pre-sensation is likely to be seen as a movement of life, when you as an individual are changing the way of living. Although it is hard to describe or even communicate, it is a part of the human predicament. We are capable of providing an awareness of upcoming processes of development by following and addressing the pre-sensational experience within philosophical inquiries.
Although philosophy can be pictured as a navigation tool for future states of mind, it has never been a clear approach to handle specific situations or conflicts. In that sense philosophy has been a metaphysical and distanced mode. I believe there is a need within the practice of philosophy to become a part of solving problems of life and contribute to the evolution of living.
By focusing on life forces and originality it is my intention to clarify the fundamental reason to believe that philosophy actually contributes with relevant knowledge to the individual. The relevance of the knowledge concerns the abstraction of forces of coherency. Some people might believe that philosophy is an abstraction in itself and therefore of no importance within daily life issues.
This is not the case from my experience. Philosophy is not science in strict terms. Neither is it a fiction in the sense of being outside any reflection of what is happening. I believe that science could often be seen as fictional in the sense of being outside any reflection of what is happening. On the contrary, philosophy is in the middle of the world crystalizing the human consciousness as being alive. It is always present and characterized by presenting a force of coherence, unfolding an immediate process of thinking.
In order to fulfill this leading idea, my intention is actually very simple:
• The ideas of life forces and originality will in a cogent way become integrated in research methodologies by unfolding a line of thinking instead of constructing a judgment approach based on predetermined philosophical categories.
• Integrating philosophy and leadership is a matter of capturing the essence and developing the pre-sensation skill.
• Philosophical Leadership is applicable within science as well as business enterprises. In both areas of life, Philosophical Leadership develops a field enriching the simplicity of value propositions.
• Besides being an analysis of life forces and originality the book is also a conceptual framework for leaders of tomorrow. The framework guides a developmental process focused on the intuition by awakening the pre-sensation skill.
• Leadership is to be developed, but basically in a philosophical perspective it is an organization of a collective consciousness. Leadership is therefore not only a personal characteristic or job description. It is also a unification of a living.
*
Philosophy seems to be leadership when the goal of research is focusing on awakenings. Awakenings cannot be enforced or created. They seem to appear autonomously as a dance with the mind of a philosopher.
I experience that doing philosophy is a creative act and hence an essential part of becoming aware of a self-perpetuating life force – a force that is transcending a present state of mind, by which creativity is to take life seriously without taking oneself too seriously. It is a way to generate frameworks that create a space outlining the practice thought leadership.
‘Saying that leadership is both a science and an art emphasizes the subject of leadership as a field of scholarly inquiry, as well as certain aspects of the practice of leadership.’¹
The leadership involved in doing philosophy renders the liberation of a mindset, as an integral part of a personal developmental process. It becomes a release of someone who has been taken prisoner by science in a strict way, and not been given a chance to live a life according to life forces. By unfolding philosophy from that point of departure, the process makes more sense. Life enriches itself and transformation seems to be the key to grasp such a process.
The evolution of thinking has to start in the open. It must allow itself to access the nectar of life forces. It must overcome the blindness of the past. And by liberating other people it sends a very strong message about leadership within the present moment. Furthermore it points to the iconoclastic approach, keeping the in-betweens open handling those as self-perpetuating forces of energy.
Research is in that sense not only important for the human mankind. It is certainly also important for the interaction with the universe and as guidance. The navigating approach draws near when we reach out, and charges our thoughts with clarity. These thoughts become translated into words with an iconoclastic effect. They free the mind, and the resulting openness develops their sensibility. Doing philosophy can therefore not just be another discipline, but a way of being in this world. Leadership by philosophy seems therefore to be a process that focuses on life forces and their original practice.
*
The implication of my research is that science becomes a process of living, making a thought process an integrated part of obtaining the force of life. Research therefore clarifies what it means to be a leader due to the fact that philosophical inquiries are the insights into forces of coherence. Leadership becomes in that sense a way of doing research, i.e. leadership discovers the art of knowledge reflected by the practice of a specific kind of knowledge.
With respect to becoming aware of the craftsmanship within philosophy, my book suggests that philosophical practice is a matter of creating frameworks for awakenings instead of focusing on the direct matter of things. This is important in the practice of philosophy because the focus on developing frameworks, grounds the individual force of life. In other words leadership revitalizes the opportunity to have effortless epiphanies through individual experiences.
Science hence becomes a framework for individual and collective processes by developing insights based on own experiences and empathy. The book likewise suggests that the practice of philosophy creates a momentary movement, where certainty is derived from a process of clarity. It is a state of mind. Finally, the process of doing philosophy becomes a process of embodying the entire concept of leading a thought process.
The perspective of these philosophical inquiries could be derived from the specific process, developing the concept of knowledge and the project of research. In a greater perspective the art of knowledge seems to be the overall value of research, and the artistic practice of the philosophical ideas (meaning the examples throughout the book) could reflect a role as an adviser, within those areas that create frameworks and ideas involving individuals with the purpose of facilitating epiphanies.
‘In principle, we know what transformational leaders are meant to do. They change the world by generating enduring enthusiasm for common causes. They present innovative solutions to significant problems. They catalyze shifts in people’s values and ideologies. They demonstrate willingness to sacrifice personal interests when necessary. They help others get through critical moments of crisis. They inspire people to want to change, so that positive energy sustains the change over time. They don’t just generate followers: their followers themselves become leaders.’²
The practice of philosophy is in other words a transforming creational process that awakens the intuition in the sense that it uncovers the structure of a certain philosophical thought process.

The philosophical way of developing a conceptual framework within leadership is based on a certain way of thinking. The book presents a diagonal way of thinking, which on a concrete level is a type of thinking, where thoughts enter the space of their philosophical realizations. Throughout the book you will find textboxes with illustrative examples on how philosophy can become an integration project for the humanity.
The text boxes are examples derived from an integration project that I developed and created a framework for. It was focusing on four 2nd generation immigrants who we invited to walk on the Camino with a selected team from a Danish Insurance company called TRYG. We went for nine days during the tipping point of the financial crisis in 2008. The ideas of the project were generated and revealed by all the methodological ideas that you will meet in this project.
From this interstitial space a philosophy of a secondary order of thought emerges. The diagonal
refers to the actual field between thought and genesis, and this reinforces the resonance of the actualized as a distillation of the third dimension. This is a new creational practice of philosophy, where the individual thinkers are associated with the consciousness-raising process in inherent ways of being.
Those thinkers are not necessarily aware of their own method – they just practice it, but there is cohesion in portraying their approach, which can be extrapolated to ways of leading. This is Philosophical Leadership. Leadership makes the actualizing momentum accessible as an intuitive practice by acknowledging the organizational force of the intuition.
My point of departure for this way of thinking is an analysis of philosophical thinkers, who as a group constitute the space for a clarification of philosophy as leadership by life forces and originality. This is the theme, and basically it has constituted
