The search for coherence between the individual human being and his job or profession first of all requires a fundamental reflection on what really makes man human, what makes him become alive and creative: thus the innermost quality of a human being, his innermost core, the spirit.

Spirit? This term calls for a closer examination of what it actually is:

The notion that man has an earthly body as well as a soul dwelling within for the duration of his life on earth, which gives him his individual character, is more or less accepted by most people. The intellect, a dominant component of today's world of work, is essentially a part of the body, but is nevertheless in close contact with the soul, as thoughts and feelings influence each other in a constant interplay. This interplay then provides the basis for job assessments, career counselling and vocational coaching.

But man is much more than these well-known components: body, soul, intellect and emotions:

He is a spirit being, that is to say, he is imbued with an essence that is unique to man, that works out of him and forms the innermost core of his soul: This is spirit, and this spirit must not be confused with the earthly focused intellect, the mind, which is part of the material world.
