About this ebook

Are you ready to Awaken? Ask yourself, in your life today, what truth is there that you have not been taught by someone else? Have you spent your life believing what other people have told you to believe, but still there is an itch of doubt deep within that you could not scratch? You may now be standing on the edge of a personal awakening. Your wisdom has told you that your own awakening is not about the greatest advice you can receive from others, but about the greatest advice you can remember from your SELF. It explores the idea that truths are a energetic thing that we are not born with, but something we are taught. From this point we create what we believe to be truths and then teach others creating a cycle of truthful lies. Be warned, It will irritate and aggravate those sleeping within the truths of others in an effort to bring you face to face with your wisdom. It is written for those who acknowledge both dark and light, are individuals, are magnificent, and are Awakening within themselves.

    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to those people who are asking themselves the questions others are afraid to ask. It is meant for those who have incited a riot within their own understanding of truth and who have found a passion to become more aware. It is your courage which has inspired this book. It is not the courage demonstrated by the ability to lead, but the courage it takes to find one’s own path, walk it alone, and the courage not to hinder another’s progress on their own path in an effort to not walk alone.

This dedication is to those who are making it their will, every day, to walk without needing a leader outside of themselves.  Those who have a passion to learn to walk without a light in order to discover their truth and wisdom.  To those who are not paralyzed with fear about bringing the darkness of their consciousness to light. If you understand these words then this book is dedicated to your courage, your questions and your journey. Questioning everything you know causes you to stumble in the darkness, to find your fearlessness, and to discover your I am. I honor you and recognize your truths, encourage you to question them all, and am inspired when you find your wisdom so you may unleash the passion in your heart for all to see.

One of his students asked Buddha, Are you the messiah?

    No, answered Buddha.

    Then are you a healer?

    No, Buddha replied.

Then are you a teacher? the student persisted.

No, I am not a teacher.

Then what are you? asked the student, exasperated.

    I am awake, Buddha replied.

    Preface

As I finished drafting this book I asked my sister to tell me what she thought of the first couple chapters.  Her advice was to start at chapter three and remove all of the background stuff. She reminded me that those who are ready for the information do not need the background and those who were not would never finish the book.

So I will start you where the only momentum to continue is your own curiosity. I do believe that things worth having must be manifested through thought and work. You have manifested the thoughts of this book and now the real work begins.

In the infancy of my own progress, I began the journey of my first book where I noticed a new perspective on humanity broke people into two classes, either Zombies or Vampires and I explained the identifying difference between the zombies and vampires. I constantly challenge myself not to go back and change the book and to honor my own past experience. I had fun writing the book and capturing similarities between what I was experiencing and what I have been taught or shown as being truth.

As I finished writing the first book, I gave a brief introduction to a third class of humanity I called the Dark Walker. While this has a sinister, sci-fi, and kind of Darth Vader ring to it, I could not come up with a better descriptor for someone who we have all observed who can seem to walk through the darker experiences of life with relative ease, and appear to be comfortable with any experience without the benefit of seeing the world. This Dark Walker concept and questions of my own truths brought this book to you today and this is where you will start with this book.

To get myself to the threshold of realizing my Dark Walker, first I realized I am still an infant in this space, that it could not be taught to me, I could not Google it, and no one could teach me where this space is within myself. You can, however, find the darkness for yourself. You need three things…

    1. Ask yourself the right questions.

    2. Be truthful with yourself about the answers.

    3. Be patient with yourself moving from previously-established truths to newfound wisdoms.

So the first right question…….Are you ready to get started?

    WHO ARE YOU?

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are. ~ Unknown

You are standing at a fork in your road where it splits into several directions. One appears to be a well-worn foot or horse trail, another is like a fire trail and appears to have been created by an all-terrain vehicle, and the third looks smooth, nicely paved with lines, street signs and traffic signals.

Just as several roads can all lead to the same destination; it is also possible to come to your answers in a variety of ways. You will have experiences different from others, depending on your mode of transportation used along the way. Which way will you travel to determine who you are? Will you follow the lead of another? Will you blaze your own unique trail? Or will your ambition to move forward cause you to seek other modes of transportation to get you answers more quickly? The irony is that you may discover, in your pursuit for this answer, that the mode you use will also help you better understand who you are. And who you are will better explain the ambitions of your SELF.

When I reviewed this book one final time before publishing, I realized that those with a desire to read this book will likely evolve through four states of progress through this book. The first sense of awareness begins with a curiosity. You may be engaged based simply on a state of curiosity to discover if you are awake or how awake you may be today, in an effort to compare with others.  Then as you explore the importance of your perspective and how to become clearer about what your perspective means to you; you enter the second state I describe as the investigator. The level of motivation to continue reading will be consistent with becoming an investigator of your own truths and will be linked to the desire to become clearer about how your perspectives influences the reality you have created for yourself and others. No longer curious, now motivated to evolve more within one’s self, and no longer caring how you may stack up when compared to others.  In my experience, some previous investigators get stuck here and most because they start investigating the motivation of others. To avoid this trap stay self-centered as you did within your curiosity, if you want to progress to the next stage.  By the third evolution of experiences your level of awareness becomes resistant to your own discoveries, another reason people stop at the second level. Some really dislike the journey this book has taken them because of the clash between perceived truth and their own wisdom.  The ironic thing is that by this time momentum keeps moving you forward in an effort to either learn more or unlearn what you have discovered.  No worries, both are possible.  It is normally here where most of those awakened by their SELF are either scared off or ready to focus on the work involved in identifying personal wisdom and their own expansion of SELF. If you make it past your light and embrace your SELF then the fourth level of motivation described in this book is the work with that personal wisdom, perceived truths, and new perspectives you derive from the experience of differentiating the two. All of this expansion swirling around inside that wonderful meat suit of yours and causing you to spend a lot of time in contemplative thought.

One final note as you get started, you can move from one to another evolutionary awareness with a single question or maybe after pages of questions, but that specific question for you can be asked anywhere along your journey with this book.  The end of the book does not mark the place where all the best questions are asked, it is only another starting point for future expansion.

As with the analogy used related to the paths taken to your destination, the personal motivations discovered will vary; after all, this is the beauty of perspective. I hesitate calling these next four areas goals or challenges because both labels indicate there is a designated finish line. These four states of personal understanding are not designed to have a finish line or to be an end goal. I write these words with the intention of this exploration being very dynamic for you with the greatest good as the discovery for your personal quest. I intend for this information to enable you to grow in several areas and realize for yourself that you must return to your own fundamental truths. No one can teach you anything you do not already know, however, in case you have forgotten, let’s review four fundamentals:

    1.  This is a personal journey exploring ideas and asking questions about how it is that you built your reality.

    2.  No one person is qualified to judge your perspective, oddly enough, not even you. This is about honesty, growth and understanding; not regret.

    3.  Going the distance in this discovery is self-defined. You can go on a journey with an end in mind, or seek progress understanding that there is no end to your self-defined growth. Which will it be? Some may dig until they find the root of painful issues; others will only be able to scratch the surface before feeling accomplished. In both cases, you are right to celebrate.  If this is a journey, then when ready redefine your next ambition and start over.

    4.  No one else can travel the path of your heart and your mind, so be kind to yourself as you think your words, and do this work. Your work will have very different meanings from that of anyone else, so honor it and honor the work of others.

Now that you have a fundamental idea of what this book might bring you, I think it is important to discuss what this book is not:

    1.  This is NOT a self-help book where my goal would be to provide you, 5 transcendent ways to feel better about yourself. And while the title may be catchy, it is not my intent to help you hack shortcuts to understanding yourself. There is already too much of that going on right now.

    2.  This is not about enlightenment….However, it is you who ultimately defines the label of your results. I personally would not use the label of enlightenment and we will discuss more about those reasons later on in the book.

    3.  This is not a quick read or easy. It is not intended to be fast, and it will take work to determine the labels you want to use to define the experience.

    4.  This book is not me telling you, this is about me asking you and suggesting ways to consider things you already know. If I tell you something it is to illicit a response. Sit with it. Question it. Follow the emotion. And always, always: Ask questions. Until the questions are all lost. Once the questions are lost, progress is made.

    5.  It is not designed to tell you how you should perceive your perspective of yourself or the world. You have an entire world doing that for you today.

Good! Now let’s go back to the trailhead. As you stand on the road deciding which path to take, let’s assume someone stops and offers you a ride.  You tell them you are not sure where you are going and they say, Don’t worry. I know how to get you there. Confused, you may ask how they could know where you are going if you do not even know, but they assure you that they have already been there and they can get you there quickly and safely without having to face the pitfalls and dangers of traveling the road alone. What are you going to do? Why are you hesitating?

Now really think about why who you are wants the ride; or does not want the ride….Take your time, I will be here when you get back.

Stop reading here to consider that question.

Decided? Well this book may be a very short read for you if you jump into the vehicle. This is what I mean when I say shortcut or hack. The effectiveness of hacking and shortcuts can be seen throughout history. For example, how many diet programs, pills, meal plans, or routines do you know about or have seen? Why is it that every couple of months someone has a new exciting program for you to help you lose weight faster, safer, and with no side effects? Are you going to go on this ride? You know that weight loss is tied to proper meals and exercise. Why do you need someone else to tell you their version of the truth? Now this is an easy example and in this book we will discuss how you can take this concept further and apply this same process to politics, religion, and all aspects of your life where someone is offering you a ride down the road….GO back to remembering you are your own expert.

    Question:

It took you how many years to get where you are now? If you try to shortcut your own effort, the only person you are affecting is you. With shortcuts you may feel better in the short term. You may be happy with the results, but the underlying root of SELF is still not understood. A shortcut is like a diet program. It promises quick results if you do certain things. And although you may lose the weight quickly, many times as soon as you’re off the plan you’ve gained back all the weight and then some.

Hacks need to stay with technology and shortcuts need to remain related to navigating roadways. You are not designed to effectively use either when you are examining your true nature. It will take time and there are not ways around it. With hacks and shortcuts you may be able to temporarily lighten the perceived weight of the emotional baggage you have been carrying your entire life. However, rest assured it will come back if you don’t get to the root of it and to get there you may miss vital information if you are hacking your way to a solution.

The root of the things that make up the culmination of all of your experiences and all those years it took for you to get where you are today is your own unique individual SELF. Do you know anyone who is a better subject matter expert about you, than YOU? Not your doctor, not your shrink, not your best friend, not your psychic, just you. To find the underlying cause of all of this requires work and time, which only you can do; there are no quick fixes. And there is no obligation from anyone, except you, to keep going. Bail out at any time because that is your choice, but assuming you are in it for the long haul, know that others will offer to get you there faster. Preachers, Organizations, Gurus, Politicians, teachers, saints, sinners and even this book may be perceived as a method used to hack your way to a better you… The truth is only you can decide these things, but I do believe you are your own guru. Period. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

By now you understand that this process requires a slight shift in perspective, which is why we are here. If you made it this far into the book, then when offered a ride
