    Wonder of Wonders - Dave Salenski

    Come

    WONDER OF WONDERS

    Oh Wonder of Wonders, how can these things be?

    That You have so mercif’ly forgiven me!

    I’ve sinned once again but You heard my plea,

    Oh Wonder of Wonders, how can these things be?

    I’ve read through the Bible and tried faithfully

    To do just Your will, but unfortunately

    This flesh gets control and takes over, You see,

    Til I actually do things contrary to Thee.

    It’s then You look down so compassionately

    With a heart full of love and forgiveness for me.

    Your grace is amazing – and definitely

    The greatest of wonders, how can these things be?

    I think how You died there upon Calvary

    And went through such suffering to set this soul free

    From the sure punishment of sin’s penalty;

    This boggles my mind – but You did it for me.

    But You not only died there that day on the tree;

    These sins I commit now are new killers for Thee!

    So not just back then – but now, currently

    Each time I commit one brings You misery.

    Oh Wonder of Wonders, how can these things be?

    That You in Your mercy again forgive me?

    There’s only one answer to this I can see:

    You somehow must love me exceedingly.

    TURN AROUND TIME

    Man’s life is filled with changes that occur from day to day;

    With endless list of reasons to explain them all away!

    So seldom satisfied with things to stay just as they are;

    Possessed with selfish hearts and drawn to wants that are bizarre!

    A worldly man will turn around for each brand new desire;

    First wanting this, and then that; just which one will transpire?

    His purpose turns to each new thing until it is complete

    Or else until he’s figured out that thing caused his defeat!

    The turn around for Christian should originate from God;

    Not from the world or even self or from the devil’s squad;

    But from the Holy Spirit hand delivered to the heart!

    Just this will bring a turn around that’s safe right from the start!

    Special attention must be paid for no one can afford

    To turn in wrong direction; to stray far from the Lord.

    If aware now wrong decision put you on unsure ground

    Please listen to the voice of God; it’s time to turn around!

    Turn back around and travel in direction of God’s will;

    And do what’s right before His eyes, and yes, do it until

    The Lord comes back to rescue you from this old sinful mess

    And you walk safely by His side to nevermore transgress!

    WINDING DOWN-GEARING UP

    When year is winding down to end

    It makes me stop and think;

    Which of my deeds would I defend

    And which did really stink?

    Now, wait a sec’, don’t let year close

    On such unhappy note;

    Compiling up all deeds propose

    A lifelong anecdote!

    ‘Twill cause comparison to scale

    And guessing which outweighed;

    Then hoping good ones would prevail,

    Not bad to have betrayed.

    But life cannot go on like this

    Let reality sink in!

    Though good is found in analysis

    Just one wrong deed is sin!

    Well, thinking back is not the way

    To fix this human err;

    Look to Jesus, He’ll save the day!

    Please do not despair!

    The blood He shed has covered up

    All bad things we will do!

    So with new hope drink of this cup

    In joy the whole year through.

    Now let’s not take advantage of

    Mercy He doth bestow;

    But, rather display of His great love

    We’re gearing up to show!

    GOALS

    Just what would life be without any goals?

    Nothing to look forward to!

    No longing, no reaching, nothing out there;

    No wish or hope, just despair!

    Despair is too empty and bleak to allow;

    There must be hope in life;

    Or it isn’t worth the living each day;

    But goals will give us a way!

    A goal is something we strive hard to do;

    Generates drive to go on!

    It requires attention, effort and will;

    When reached rewards with a thrill!

    There’s two kinds of goals that we could set:

    One is doing for God;

    The other for things of this world to amass;

    Which do you think would surpass?

    Things all heaped up in our houses and barns

    Will burn on that fateful day.

    But things that sincerely for God are done

    Will outlast in comparison!

    If we don’t compare them, we never will know

    What life is all about!

    Just look at the difference between the two;

    Which is worth working for you?

    Well, have you decided which one is best?

    Is God’s will the goal for you?

    Begin trying now, and all through the year;

    Keep His voice plain in your ear!
