ETERNAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM
Proverbs 29:25
T he fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trust in the Lord shall be safe.
Before the advent of modern navigational systems the compass was used by explorers and seafaring people as they traveled from one place to another.
Through the darkness of night or the depths of the deepest storms, the compass never deviates from pointing north.
Every time a mariner left the shelter of his homeport, he relied upon the compass to guide him back to the safety of a sheltered cove.
The compass was and is reliable under all circumstances and if followed one can go around the world without the fear of becoming lost.
As the compass is to those who travel from place to place, whether it is on land or sea, so is the Bible to those who follow Jesus Christ.
The Bible is the history of mankind, from his conception to the end of time. From its pages can be gleaned the promises of God. Properly applied the teachings of the Bible can guide us from birth to death. As the compass guides us physically, so does the Bible guide us spiritually.
The compass can be ignored, but in doing so, it puts the navigator in danger of disaster, so it is with the Bible, if one ignores the truths found in the Bible they are in danger of being separated from God for eternity.
Just as the compass always points north, so does the Bible always points to God. With the Bible in one hand and the compass in the other, we have no excuse for getting lost in this world or on our journey to eternal life.
CALLED
Romans 8:28
A nd we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, and to those who are called according to His purpose.
Heavenly Father, we who have been called to serve Thee here on earth come before Thy throne with bowed heads and open hearts. We will endeavor to plant the seeds that will help lead the unrepentant soul to the foot of the cross.
For once so were we, we enjoyed and was satisfied with the sins that kept us from serving Thee. We could not see beyond our selfish ways. Father, it was not until we became restless and questioned our motives as to how we were living that we turned to Thee and asked You into our lives.
Even then, we had doubts if our lives would change, but with this request for change came the desire to be more like Your Son, Jesus Christ. For some it took more time than others to turn from our old ways and seek a new beginning.
Our old habits were hard to overcome, for Satan had promised prosperity and the fulfilling of our sensual desires if only we would follow him. At the time, we did not know any better. As the spark of freedom from the bondage of sin burst into an open flame, we became enthralled with the aspects of finally becoming a true disciple of Your doctrine.
Whether young or old was not as important as the fact that we did turn to Thee and was chosen to serve Thee. That was like the icing on the cake. From that moment on Father, we have striven to do Thy will according to our calling. We will neither look back nor regret our decision to open the door and ask You to come into our lives.
We praise You and thank You God for the opportunity to serve You, we expect nothing in return, for we know what we really deserve is eternal damnation, but instead through Your love You gave us the honor of serving You.
Until we meet You face to face, we will endeavor to be obedient children and will help our neighbor in their effort to change their lives as you have changed ours.
It is with joy in our hearts that we who have been called to
