    ACT I

    Scene 1: William and Barbara

WILLIAM, a 30 year old bachelor, walks the streets

    of the city.

    WILLIAM

                             (SINGING)

Who am I? To pretend that I don’t notice. Who am I? To

pretend I just don’t care. It’s easier to make them

think that you don’t notice; That they think you

    pretend that they’re not there.

Who am I? I’ve forgotten my reflection. I don’t know,

who’s looking back. Who am I? Once I had a vision, of

    exactly who I am.

Those wide-eyes and those chubby cheeks never meant to

melt away. I wished to go in space, I wanted to save

the day. But now I’m strangled by my tie, and earn a

modest wage. Who am I to complain?

William notices a man on his knees with his eyes

closed (left over from the musical number).

    WILLIAM

Hello, sir? Sir, are you alright? Do you need help?

The man opens his eyes to reveal he’s a zomB. The

man attacks William. William holds him at bay by

    the arms.

    WILLIAM

    I’ll get you help. I’ll--

The zombie tries to get William. William finds a

lead pipe and hits the zomB over the head, killing

    it.

    WILLIAM

    Zombies. How did this happen?

BARBARA, a 26 year old woman, enters. She is

    frantic.

    BARBARA

Are you alright? I saw the commotion from over there!

    Is that man--is he--did you--what happened?

William tries to keep his composure.

    WILLIAM

He’s gone. He was dead before I killed him.

    BARBARA

    What do you mean?

    WILLIAM

    What’s your name?

    BARBARA

    I’m Barbara.

    WILLIAM

My name is William. Now, Barbara, are you familiar with

    zombies?

Barbara thinks for a moment, the realization of

    the zombie
