Prologue

I am the hand between him and the universe. The shoes I am wearing are the shoes he'll have to fill. I see him total. Love him total. Inhale his love total. We are one denomination in two bodies.

I am his first source for knowledge of science and philosophy. I am his measure of law. I am the light in the heaviest dark for him. Straight into fire I'd walk for him if the situation presented itself. I am his champion. I am his companion. I am his tree to find shade under.

We are a song together the second we wake. The day is our perfect canvas. We stick pancakes to the ceiling and laugh our asses off. We talk about black holes. He asks questions about the beginning of the universe. We build spaceships. He cuddles up for movies and in our nest, perfection. Protection. Direction. Unshakable bond.

A book to help my boy cross the road safely.  A book to help us all cross the road ahead.

Jove and Dad

For Jove

I love my son above all things: the poetry of any parent. The need to protect him; to guide him; to nurture and help align him with the stars. I love watching him fall asleep. I love his kiss. I love his first sound in the morning and all the bird songs are second to it. I love his eyes, wide awake in my tired mind as I come alive to another day with him in it. Top of the mountain on a tall step ladder am I. I love his familiarity, his shape, his height, his scent, his heart, his smile; his young mind sharing the world he occupies with me. Privilege on tap. I love his potential.

I love my son so much I am writing this book for him. I am writing it to help him grow up in a world that is already starting to pummel him with crooked cognitive shapes and the shadows that come with them. I don’t use the word pummel lightly. My child, just like your child is growing up in a tunnel of twisted vision’s and I am not
