Scruffy and Trixie
At 6:45 pm it was still too warm to go out, so Meg waited, and waited, until the puppies could wait no longer. At 7:15 she wrapped her favorite belt (with gun attached) around her hips, and grabbed the runner’s fanny pack and water bottle.
OK, you two,
Meg said. You need to stay with me this time because those tricky coyotes are just waiting for a good meal! You noticed the one tracking us yesterday, right? This gun may have a laser on it but I don’t want to have to use it because it will hurt your ears, and mine... and all you or I need is hearing damage like the Bald Guy.
Both puppies looked at Meg in agreement, as if they understood, promising to leave her side ONLY under emergency circumstances....to chase bunnies!

With no other dogs to take hiking, Trixie, a 1 year-old Morkie, Scruffy, a 2 year-old Morkie, and Meg, dog owner and human Mom, had to be careful and cautious when they went out to play. Morkies are small dogs, not much bigger than rabbits, and they would make a perfect meal for a carnivorous coyote.
Let’s Go!
The puppies and Meg set out down the lane, hoping to see Chiquita, the neighbor’s German Shepherd, somewhere along the way. She would scare the coyotes away, at least for the moment, and that would prolong their adventure until it got dark.... around 8 pm.

Meg shouted, Alright Puppies, Let’s Go!
, as she ran down the lane toward the big blue barn located 200 yards from the house. Scruffy and Trixie zoomed past Meg and around the corner, each hoping to be the
