To Pray Effectively Do This - Kaka Meka

    Meka

    Forward

Jesus said  to the Samaritan woman by the well

You Samaritans  worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.

    John 4:22 NIV

Sadly today, these words of Jesus apply to a lot of  people who profess faith in Jesus Christ; they pray and worship in abstract to an abstract deity in their minds. Some seek to worship the one true God, but really don’t know him, most likely because they don’t have a habit of reading and researching the Scriptures like the Bereans did in Acts17:11

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Our diligence and persistence in studying the word is seen as noble by God.

Prayer is a form of worship.

To effectively pray we need to first understand to whom we are praying.  This will allow us to come correct; with the right understanding, and offer up prayers that will be heard and pleasing to the one described as the hearer of prayer, God.

If our prayers and worship please God then we can be confident that God will do  marvelous things in our lives. Yes, if our prayers please God, we know he will show up on our behalf with strength and with zeal.

Let’s explore how to offer powerful and effective prayers.

    Introduction to prayer

Wikipedia defines Prayer as an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship, typically a deity, through deliberate communication. Prayer can take a variety of forms, it can be part of a set liturgy or ritual, it can be performed alone, or in groups. Prayer may take the form of a hymn, incantation, formal creedal statement, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person.

So using that definition, we pray to activate a rapport with the object of our worship, in our case, The Almighty God.  It is our deliberate communication with God.  It can take a variety of forms; it can be a lone act or part of some other ritual such as fasting, meditation or praise worship. When we recite the psalms, we are praying; when we sing songs of praise, we are praying; when we read The Word of God, we are receiving God’s holy Utterance and instructions, which also is communication, and therefore prayer.  So in any way we communicate with God, whether in listening or speaking, or otherwise receiving, it is prayer. We seek to establish rapport or connection with our Maker, through deliberate, intentional communication.

Some shut their eyes when they pray, in order to concentrate and to block out any distraction from the visible things around them, and to focus on The Invisible God.  Others prefer to look upward towards heaven, where God dwells. Again these are deliberate actions to connect with God.

We may pray silently or aloud.  We pray in different positions; for some type of supplication, we find it only appropriate lying on the ground with our faces to the floor; at other times, we sit, stand, kneel, or lay on our beds.  In warfare, we may prefer to stand or to kneel, and sometimes even have our heads down on the ground as we kneel in humility before the Great God of the Universe.

Our position for prayer depends on our understanding of the intensity required, or as the Holy Spirit of the living God, moves us to.  For instance, there are at least a couple of times in scripture, where God instructs different ones to Take off your sandals, for where you are standing is holy ground.  So also in our present day, we may feel or hear the Spirit of God move us into a particular position.  Several times I have began prayer in bed or sat on a chair only to end up on the floor as I felt led by the Spirit.

Prayer for a Christian, is like a ballistic missile, able to pull somethings down, bind and break things, dismantle structures and organizations.  Warfare prayers can really disrupt things for the enemy, if we understood it and we pray strategically; we partner with God to accomplish things that seem humanly impossible. Limbs grow out, legs are straightened, governments overthrown, elections swing, secrets uncovered, the dead are raised. Literally, when we pray, we mobilize the resources of heaven and draw down the power of God, and His will into human affairs.

Sadly a lot of us Christians only pray for our needs.  Some are not engaged in working alongside God on other matters, and so can’t experience the marvelous interventions of God on the earth.  Still, every child of God has the same access to the throne room and to the Holy Spirit’s all consuming power; yet many Christians are not really interested in anything else other than themselves.

More people need to experience the EXPLOITS that the Bible book of Daniel talks about that will be done by those who know their God.  Will you be one of such people that pray in faith and have the powers of heaven loosed and command the other powers and principalities to be held bound? Wouldn’t you like be the one to pray for God’s Divine Will to manifest all around you?

Starting with the basics, let us understand some fundamental truths.

So who is this God that we are communicating to? If you have never REALLY prayed before, or have sort of prayed a bit, but wondered if anyone actually hears your prayer, you might have wondered these things. To hear about a person, and to personally know them intimately for yourself are two different things.

You know the bible tells us, for starters, in the book of Hebrews chapter 11 verse 6 that we have to start off our act of connecting with God, by believing He exists and that He will reward us for seeking him earnestly. Here is how The Scriptures puts it:

..................... for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him.  Hebrews 11:6.

The book of Genesis introduces us to someone it describes as God. Then goes on to explain that the person of God spoke to himself in plural terms saying, Let us,  Let’s, in our, and so on. The account describes that this person it calls God, created the invisible heavens (which is the Spiritual realm), the visible heavens (known visible universe), as well as our planet, which the bible calls Earth. Focusing on the visible heavens and earth, the Bible account explains the order of the creation activity very precisely, starting with the creation of light, and ending with us humans; all these in six, twenty-four hour days.  Incredible, right!

If someone was to say to you that a house on your street just appeared by itself over time, and was slowly formed from the combination of mud and water with the catalyst activity of tiny microbes, it got constructed, with Perfect dimensions and its proportions are mathematically accurate.  It has well thought-out features and it’s perfect for human habitation; yet was constructed completely by chance after an explosion.  How would you respond?

I think most people would say something to the effect: yeah right, pull the other one.  Yet this is how some scientists explain the formation of our universe, and they expect us to accept this no-sense nonsense.  Intelligent design is never by accident, it is in itself evidence of an intelligent designer.  We can tell when something is done thoughtlessly; we can tell how the scene of an explosion would look:

    TOTAL CHAOS, DANGEROUS and UNINHABITABLE.

Some times we forget the power that God has, and we box him into a tiny human pigeon hole and restrict him in our minds by human possibilities and human comprehension. God is much bigger than we can imagine!

So, how did the intelligent and intentional design we observe throughout nature and even in our own bodies come about?  For instance, the pleasure of procreation resulting in the miracle of childbirth; and it cannot be the result of any Big Bang explosion.  It is all the result of the loving arrangement of a SUPER SUPREME INTELLIGENT BEING, God.

Scripture puts it like this, For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.    Hebrews 3:4

The Genesis creation account in isolation may seem hard for some to comprehend, especially because it occurred in just six days.  But when we investigate the reliability and accuracy of the totality of God’s word, we start to see a strong pattern of credibility and truth.  The Bible has been shown to be scientifically accurate. Its’ historical accounts have been backed up by archeological excavations, other ancient writings, as well as secular historic records.  The Bible is scientifically accurate and geographically correct.
