About this ebook

Can we as humans really dare to think what God thinks about us? Most people think that the only thoughts God has about us are thoughts to harm us or punish us for our multitude of sins. But is this really what the Bible teaches? The moment we start to read the Bible through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, we suddenly realize that His thoughts for us are actually thoughts of peace and not of evil. Then we realize that He thinks good things of us and wishes us to live according to His plans for our life. If you also grew up with the old traditional way of thinking that God only wants to hurt or harm you, feel free to open this free e-book and be ready to have your old way of thinking renewed from the pages of the Bible.

    About the author

    1. Who knows what God thinks? (Back to top)

"Can anybody ever have the audacity to try to imagine what the Almighty Creator God may be thinking about anything – or anyone – here on earth?" Yes, I do think so, if I read my Bible correctly.

What does God think of us? Can you imagine God sitting in heaven contemplating man? Thinking about you and me? For many years many people have not been able to comprehend this wonderful fact that God would even THINK about us, let alone actually be interested in our individual and personal well-being. That is why there are so many differences of opinion about Him and whether He really cares about us, or not. Isn't He just some far away Being who made us on this puny little planet and then left us to our own devices?

The argument usually is: He is too almighty, and too busy to lower Himself to be interested in us! He doesn’t have time to think about us! This argument would be equal to the inventor of the telephone totally discarding his prize invention and reverting to runners with sticks to carry his messages. No, Alexander Graham Bell ensured that he kept his hands on it and developed his invention more and more, to ensure that it eventually fulfilled the purpose for which he invented it, to the fullest degree.

In the same manner, God made us all for a specific purpose, and He intends to see to it that we eventually fulfill the purpose He made us for, to the fullest degree. Weren't we just made as robots, or something He can manipulate according to His own personal whims? NO! From the earliest chapters of the Bible it is very clear what God thinks of us, and is it also clear that He hasn’t just made us as robots either. From the very beginning of time God thought about us in a very, very special way. Let us look at what the Bible says about that special way He thinks about us:

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis 1:26)

The more I read this text, the more I can see in my minds-eye the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Holy Trinity) sitting around a huge, magnificent heavenly table discussing the creation of man. It is also interesting to note that the word translated as God here, is the Hebrew: Elohim, which in its original form, literally means: the Mighty ONES, meaning the Holy Trinity of God. In a lighter vein, but with all due honor and respect to our Creator, we may call this His/their planning meeting.

And very clearly from just this one little verse, we can see that He had very definite ideas about His creation, right from the outset. Firstly, man had to be in His own image and likeness. According to Funk & Wagnall’s Standard Dictionary (International Edition), image means: a visible representation of something; a natural resemblance; also, that which resembles something; a representation in the mind of something not perceived at the moment through the senses. The same dictionary defines likeness as: the state or quality of being like; a resemblance; a portrait; a representation. From this it is clear that God planned man to be His representative here on earth. The dictionary defines representative as: Acting, having the power or authority to act, or qualified to act, as agent. Agent is then defined as: One who acts for another… Isn't this awesome? God wants us to be a visible representation of Himself so that we can be like Him, a resemblance of Him here on earth - and then also
