Legend of the Dark Knight - Christopher Goben
LEGEND OF THE DARK KNIGHT
(POEMS OF HIS LEGEND )
WRITTEN BY:
CHRISTOPHER GOBEN
I dedicate this book, Legend and Legacy of the Dark Knight, to all who I have ever come to know me for who I truly am. I dedicate this book to all who ever felt my sorrow for all I have loved and still in return have chose to love me.
Those who have given the time to understand my eccentric ways know well that this book is of the conduct in which I try to live and abide.
For one minute past eternity
IN ORDER FOR ONE TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE DARK KNIGHT
ONE MUST FIRST COME TO KNOW THE PAINS IN WHICH HE BEARS.
THE DARK KNIGHT IS SCORNED BY THE SOLSTICE OF GRIEF AND HEARTACHE.
HURT AND SORROW ARE THE ROGUE ELEMENTS OF HIS HONOR.
THOUGH THROUGH LIFE HE WEARS THE HELM OF DARKNESS
HE IS NOT ASHAMED OF WHO OR WHAT HE IS.
YET IN HIS NOBLE WAYS HE BURDENS NOT THE WORLD WITH HIS OWN PITY BUT KEEPS IT HID.
SO I BRING TO YOU A LOOK IN THE GRIEF AND GLOOM OF THE WORLD, OF THE SADNESS AND SORROW
THAT BELONGS TO THE DARK KNIGHT.
ABOUT LIFE
LIFE IS AN OCEAN
THAT CHANGES WITH UPS AND DOWNS.
LIFE IS A MYSTERY
IT IS FILLED WITH LOTS OF FROWNS.
LIFE IS A GREAT SHOWER
THAT RAINS SORROW AND PAIN.
LIFE IS KNOWLEDGE
THAT ONLY IS TO GAIN.
LIFE WILL BE FILLED
THERE WITH GLOOMY DAYS.
LIFE WILL HAVE STORMS
YOU WISH WENT AWAY.
LIFE WILL GIVE US STRENGTH
WHILE WE GET MAD.
LIFE WILL SMILE AT US
IT KNOWS IT'S NOT ALL BAD.
LIFE IS A QUESTION
TO BE ANSWERED WITH PRIDE.
LIFE IS THE WAVES
THAT COMES WITH THE TIDE.
LIFE IS A QUEST
WE SEEK FILLED WITH ADVENTURE.
LIFE LIVED WELL
FIND US MUCH TREASURE.
AWAITING
IF LOVE IS SO TRUE
THEN WHY AM I BLUE?
WILL SHE SHOW TONIGHT?
SHOWING ME THE LIGHT?
THAT GLEAMS EVER SO BRIGHT.
WILL SHE COME WHO REALLY KNOWS?
ONE WHO CAN, TAKE AWAY MY LONELY BLUES.
HOW I WISH FOR MY DREAMS TO COME TRUE.
THEN AGAIN MY WORLD WILL BE BRIGHT.
AS SHE AND I WILL TAKE FLIGHT.
THEN I WILL KNOW SHE IS REALLY TRUE.
AS HER LOVE HAVE NOT FEW.
A WILL TO LIVE
IN THIS LIFE I HAVE GROWN TIRED.
SOMETIMES WISHING I COULD GET FIRED.
WHILE FEELING LIKE A WORN OUT ZOMBIE.
I’M STANDING HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF LIFE’S LOBBY.
DREADING, OFTEN THE WORK OF LIFE STILL AHEAD.
OH HOW BETTER OFF IT WOULD BE IF I WAS DEAD.
YET THEY SAY THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
TILL THE LAST, OF LIFE’S CALLS HAS BEEN KNOWN.
IT WOULD BE OK IF SOMEONE WOULD CARE.
OR THE NIGHTS OFFERED LOVING ARMS TO SHARE.
IT'S NOT EVEN REALLY THE LACK OF MONEY.
AS LONG AS THERE WAS ONE TO CALL HONEY.
I JUST WISH THIS LIFE WAS NOT SUCH A HELL.
INTO WHICH I FEEL I HAVE ALWAYS FELL.
TOMORROW THINGS MIGHT LOOK BRIGHT.
FOR WHO KNOWS I MIGHT SEE THE LIGHT.
THEN TO THIS WORLD I'LL HAVE MY ONLY FRIEND.
THE ONE WHO WILL BE THERE TILL THE END.
THEN IN LIFE I WILL FIND PEACE AGAIN.
AND THE WILL TO LIVE CAN SOMEHOW BEGIN.
BATTERED CHILD
AS VOICES RISE, THE CHILD HIDES UNDER THE BED.
KNOWING ALL TO WELL THAT TONIGHT, IT WON'T BE FED.
VOICES RAISE HIGHER, ITS HEAD IS FILLED WITH DREAD.
IN FEAR IT SHAKES IN THE DARK, ALONE AND SCARED.
CHILD MOVES NOT, FOR IT HAS FELT, THEIR BEATING.
THE MARKS HAVE BEEN LEFT, OF THEIR MISTREATMENT.
TEARS FALL DOWN ITS LITTLE FACE, ALL WAY TO OFTEN.
IN FEAR IT SHAKES IN THE DARK ALONE AND SCARED.
THE CHILD WEEPS, NOT KNOWING HOW TO COPE.
ALL INNOCENCE IS LOST, WITH OUT A RAY OF HOPE.
IF ONLY THEY COULD LOVE IT, MORE THEN THE DOPE.
IN FEAR IT SHAKES, IN THE DARK ALONE AND SCARED.
CHILD BATTERED AND LOST, IT WISHES TO SCREAM.
ALL TOO OFTEN IT WONDERS, WHY THEY TOOK ITS DREAM?
ALL IS QUIET, AS PEACE COMES ON A LIGHT BEAM.
NO MORE FEAR, THE DARK IS GONE, THE CHILD ISN'T SCARED.
BEASTLY WAYS
NOW THAT YOU HAVE GONE
I GUESS WE ARE SO DONE.
AS MY HEART NOW FILLS WITH PAIN
NEVER ALLOWING LOVE AGAIN INSIDE MY BRAIN.
THERE WILL NEVER BE TO ME ANOTHER
SOMEONE NEW IS NOT WORTH THE BOTHER.
NO BODY NEXT TO MINE COULD TAKE YOUR PLACE
NEVER WOULD I AGAIN FIND THE BEAUTY OF YOUR FACE.
I WAS SO WRONG TO REJECT YOUR KINDNESS
DISTORTED AND CORRUPT HAS BEEN MY MADNESS.
YOU HAD ALWAYS BEEN MY ONLY LOVE AND ONE TRUE FRIEND
JUST AS WE WERE MEANT TO BE, UNTIL THE VERY END.
THERE ARE MANY THINGS I WISH I HAD SAID
MAYBE THEN OUR LOVE WOULD NOT HAVE FLED.
THERE SEEMS NOT MUCH A CHANCE NOW AS DAYS FILL WITH SORROW
PERHAPS BY CHANCE SOMEDAY, THERE WILL BE ANOTHER TOMORROW.
BUT CHANCES ARE THAT DAY IS LONG TIME COMING WITH THE DARKNESS
THE EMPTINESS SHADOWED BY ITS LONENESS.
I JUST WANTED TO LOVE YOU, BUT A MONSTER I WAS TO YOU
YET MY BEASTLY WAYS MADE YOU FADE, LEAVING ME BLUE.
BITTER TEARS
LAYING HERE IN THE DARKNESS MY MIND IS NOT CRYSTAL CLEAR.
ONCE YOU STOOD BY ME AND I WAS UNTOUCHED BY FEAR.
ALONE NOW SUMMONS HORRIFYING CHILLS OF WHAT SEEMS TRUE.
DAYS AND NIGHTS ARE COLD; LONELY I’M DYING HERE, WITHOUT YOU.
BITTER TEARS OF PAIN AND DECEIT, NOW FALLS LONG INTO THE NIGHT.
SHADOWS TAKE AWAY THE DAY AS YOU TOOK AWAY MY LIGHT.
SO MUCH DARKNESS NOW FILLS MY SOUL AND BLINDS MY EYES.
HERE IN MY ROOM, SNEAKS IN THE PAIN OF MY WEEPING CRIES.
HORRID IMAGES INTERRUPT ME FROM HAVING A PIECE OF MIND.
TIME DRAGS ITS FEET AS YOU HAVE LEFT ME HOPELESSLY BEHIND.
GRIEF SHOWERS ME WITH COLD EMOTIONS OF LONLINESS AND EMPTINESS.
SO LOST AND CONFUSED MY WORLD SPINS IN AND OUT OF TOTAL SICKNESS.
I KNOW THE THINGS I DID WASN'T ENOUGH LOVE, AND MADE YOU BLUE.
I DIDN'T TREAT YOU AS MY EQUAL, NOR HAD MY LOVE BEEN THERE FOR YOU.
YET I WISH YOU WOULD COME BACK INTO MY ARMS AND TOUCH MY HEART.
SO I COULD GIVE YOU THE LOVE YOU NEED AND SHOW YOU I CAN BE SMART.
ONCE AND FOREVER LIVING HAPPILY TOGETHER, JUST AS TRUE LOVERS DO.
JUST LIKE WE WERE LONG AGO, BEFORE MY LOVE OUT THE DOOR FLEW.
IS IT NOT BETTER THEN TO LEAVE ME HERE AS YOU DISAPPEAR FROM SIGHT?
TAKING AWAY ALL WE ONCE DID HAVE AND CAN AGAIN, OUR LOVE, AND LIGHT.
LOVE WILL OVER COME BY THE HEART INSTEAD OF CREATIVE WORDS.
THAT CUT AND SLICE THE SOUL LIKE THAT OF DOUBLE EDGED SWORDS.
IF ONLY I COULD FIND THE LIGHT AND FEEL THE BEAUTY OF TODAY.
WITH MY LOVE I'LL OVERCOME THE GRIEF AND SHE'LL FOREVER STAY.
YET WITH THIS DARKNESS PERHAPS I DESERVE MY BLISS.
ALWAYS HAVING TO ARGUE AND BITCH FOR JUST ONE KISS
THOUGH I CAN STILL HOPE, ONE DAY TO RIGHT THE WRONG.
SHOWING HER A NEW WORLD AND FILL HER HEART WITH A SONG.
CRAZY GAME
I WOULD LOVE TO LOVE AT MY VERY BEST.
YET YOU ALWAYS PUT MY HEART TO THE TEST.
WITH ALL YOU’RE SILLY WAYS AND CRAZY GAME.
WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THEY PUT OUR LOVE TO SHAME?
DO YOU ENJOY THE PAIN OF BREAKING MY HEART?
DOES IT MAKE YOU HAPPY TO SEE IT RIPPED APART?
YOU TELL ME YOU LOVE ME THEN YOU SAY YOU DON'T.
I START TO THINK YOU DO THEN YOU SHOW ME YOU DON'T.
WHY MUST YOU TREAT ME LIKE A PUPPET ON A STRING?
CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I AM MORE THEN JUST A PLAYTHING.
ARE YOU AFRAID TO LOVE ME BECAUSE OF YOUR PAST?
IS IT THAT HARD FOR YOU TO SEE THIS WAY WE CANT LAST?
DON'T FORCE ME TO WALK AWAY FROM YOU.
STOP PLAYING THIS PAINFUL GAME YOU LIKE TO DO.
START SHOWING ME JUST HOW MUCH YOU LOVE ME.
I WANT TO KNOW YOU THINK WE WERE MEANT TO BE.
STOP TREATING ME LIKE SOME KIND OF TERRIBLE SIN.
WHEN ALL I WANT IS TO PLAY A GAME WE BOTH CAN WIN.
DEATH OF A YEARBOOK JOKE
HERE I SIT WITH HEAVY HEART, IN A DAZE.
MY MIND EVER SPINNING ROUND IN A MAZE.
I SEE THE RAZOR EDGE TRACE THE VEIN.
IT'S NOT REAL, YET I FALL EVER NEAR INSANE.
SO MUCH PAIN, SHE HAS CAUSED HER DEAREST FRIEND.
PERHAPS IT’S BEST FOR LOVE, MY LIFE TO END.
NO MORE HER HARSH WORDS, MY EARS WILL HEAR.
LONG NIGHTS TO WORRY NOT, FOR GONE THE FEAR.
TO MANY OF FRIENDS, SHE HAS TO MISS OR MORN.
FOREVER FREE OF ME, HER BITTER TWISTED THORN.
MY TEARS AND BLOOD MIX WELL ON THE FLOOR.
HAPPINESS SHE WILL FIND THOUGH THE DOOR.
WHAT BLOGS SHE WILL POST, ON HER FRIENDLY BOOK.
TELLING ALL WHO CARED MORE, SHE'S OFF THE HOOK.
SHE WAS MY TRUE LOVE, AND I WAS HER FOOL.
DARKNESS IS NEAR, THE BLOOD MAKES THE POOL.
YES, JUST ONE MORE PASS, STROKE, ONE MORE STROKE.
THEN I WILL BE THE DEATH, OF A YEARBOOK JOKE.
DEPRESSED LOVE
DEPRESSION COMES OUT OF THE SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT.
I REACH FOR MY DREAMS BUT CAN’T TOUCH THE LIGHT.
AS PAGES OF MY LIFE TURN AS FAST AS THEY CAN.
TO MY EYES I SEE HEARTBREAK AND PAIN TO MUCH FOR ANY MAN. THERE, ALWAYS HURTING LIKE A TWISTED THORN IN MY SIDE.
SINCE A CHILD I HAVE RAN WITH NO PLACE TO HIDE.
DISAPPOINTMENT AND GRIEF LINGERS WHERE I REMAIN.
DARKNESS AND GLOOM NOW FILLS MY LONELY BRAIN.
OH HOW I WISH I COULD JUST LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND.
I WANT TO LOVE SOMEONE, HAPPILY BY MY SIDE.
LIKE THE ONE WHO HAS HURT ME OVER AND OVER, YET I STAY.
WHY CAN’T LOVE BE SO SIMPLE WITHOUT ITS EVIL WAY.
IF ONLY I COULD LIVE MY LIFE FULL OF PEACE.
SO I MAY TRULY KNOW LOVE, FOR ALL ITS GRACE.
EVER LONGING TO BE LOVED AND GIVE LOVE IN RETURN.
I THEN WOULD FEEL ALIVE WITHOUT THE BRIDGES BURN.
SOMEHOW I WILL FIND A WAY TO SET MY LIFE RIGHT.
THEN I KNOW, I WILL KNOW ALL OF LOVES HAPPY WAYS.
DEPRESSION WILL UNDERSTAND LOVE AND THERE I WILL STAY.
ECHOES OF HEROS
VOICES CALL OUT HIS NAME.
HERE BEYOND HIS DOMAIN OF SHAME.
LIKE SCREAMS OF MANY FALLEN
