The Strange Dream
A long time ago in India, there lived a king named Suddhodana and a queen named Maha Maya. They ruled Kapilvastu, a small yet prosperous kingdom in the Himalayan foothills. The king was kind and courteous. He had four brothers. Their names were Shuktodana, Amritodana, Dhautodana and Shukrodana.
One full moon night, the queen dreamt of four devas. They carried her to a lake and rested her on a soft bed. Soon, a white elephant came running. It was carrying a lotus flower. Suddenly, it moved around the queen thrice and disappeared. Next morning, the queen decided to inform the king about her dream.
My Lord, I saw a weird dream,
the queen narrated the dream to her husband.
What did the elephant do?
asked the king.
It ran around me thrice and when I tried to catch, it turned into a puff of cloud and got into my belly,
said the queen.
Strange!
the king was surprised.
The king immediately sent for the royal astrologer.
Gurudeva, the queen is upset about the dream!
Your Highness! There’s nothing to worry. The dream is very auspicious.
