About this ebook
CONTINUE THE JOURNEY WITH EPISODE SIX
Autumn Parish never wanted to be a hero. But as she treks across the desolate Midwest years after the collapse of society, a hero is exactly what she's become: a SHEPHERD, weaving magic from words and guiding people between this life and the next.
Summer Norwood rules a wild outpost on the outskirts of what used to be Phoenix, but her grasp on power is fragile. As the SHERIFF, she has a massive target on her back. With evil brewing, she vows not to go down without a fight.
In their childhoods, both were students at the Whitmore School for Girls in Appalachia, an elite and intensely secretive SCHOOL where young women were taught how to conquer the world. Those who attended became part of the Sisterhood, a network spanning the globe, their influence and power unparalleled.
Desire drew Autumn and Summer together from different worlds, taking them from enemies to lovers at Whitmore. But betrayal ultimately tore them apart. Twenty-five years later, when Autumn receives a magical summons drawing her west, she never expected to be reunited with the woman who betrayed her all those years before. But when Autumn realizes that other members of their Sisterhood are in danger, she may have to put their past where it belongs, teaming up with Summer to save them all.

THE JOURNEY OF THE SISTERHOOD
THIS IS A SERIALIZED saga—if you haven’t read previous episodes yet, go back and start at the beginning!

THE SCHOOL
AUTUMN WOULD STILL be standing at the foot of the steps leading up to the Whitmore School if it wasn’t for Iris’s insistent hand in the crook of her elbow.
Hey,
the light-headed twin whispers in Autumn’s ear, we don’t want to be the last to see our room assignments, right? Let’s go!
Trying not to look dumb as she blinks after the retreating Whitmore’s back, Autumn valiantly hefts her luggage up with both hands. As she makes it up the stairs and into the grand foyer of the school, she’s hardly given the chance to take it all in.
Parish!
Her eyes dart up at the sound of her name, landing at the top of a huge circular staircase where it branches off down a hallway on the left. One of Autumn’s other newly made friends, Eva Sivandian, is waving her arm wildly. Just over her shoulder, Autumn makes out the flash of Penny Lawrence’s shock of orange hair heading off down the hall. Autumn lifts her chin in acknowledgment before beginning the climb up to the next level of the building. She’ll have time to take in more of the place later, she’s certain.
Hell, she’ll have six years of seeing it, before all is said and done.
The slightest sheen of sweat is beading up across her forehead. Despite the money she knows for certain passes through these walls, apparently air conditioning had never become a priority over the years. With the oppressive humidity and heat of the south in the warmest months of the year, Autumn is pretty sure this oversight must be somehow illegal.
Up ahead of her, Autumn sees the back of Iris as the girl turns down the hallway where Eva had waved her down. Picking up her pace, Autumn cuts her way through the other girls making their way up and down the stairs, back and forth across the landing. Shouts to old friends, greetings to new girls, and a general cacophony that is both exhilarating and overwhelming fill
