About this ebook
CONTINUE THE JOURNEY IN EPISODE NINE
Autumn Parish never wanted to be a hero. But as she treks across the desolate Midwest years after the collapse of society, a hero is exactly what she's become: a SHEPHERD, weaving magic from words and guiding people between this life and the next.
Summer Norwood rules a wild outpost on the outskirts of what used to be Phoenix, but her grasp on power is fragile. As the SHERIFF, she has a massive target on her back. With evil brewing, she vows not to go down without a fight.
In their childhoods, both were students at the Whitmore School for Girls in Appalachia, an elite and intensely secretive SCHOOL where young women were taught how to conquer the world. Those who attended became part of the Sisterhood, a network spanning the globe, their influence and power unparalleled.
Desire drew Autumn and Summer together from different worlds, taking them from enemies to lovers at Whitmore. But betrayal ultimately tore them apart. Twenty-five years later, when Autumn receives a magical summons drawing her west, she never expected to be reunited with the woman who betrayed her all those years before. But when Autumn realizes that other members of their Sisterhood are in danger, she may have to put their past where it belongs, teaming up with Summer to save them all.
***The Sisterhood is a serialized speculative fiction adventure. Start with EPISODE ONE to discover kick-ass heroines surviving at the end of the world and bonds of friendship and love built to overcome any obstacle. For fans of The 100, Into the Badlands, or Mad Max: Fury Road.***

THE SCHOOL
YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW where you’re going, Parish.
Autumn Parish pointedly ignores Summer Norwood’s remark, choosing instead to quicken her pace.
The dusty old road they’re walking down has seen better days. Deep ruts, unkempt ditches, culverts that would be hard pressed to do any sort of decent job in a storm. And Autumn, admittedly, does not know where she is going—not exactly. But she has a knack for getting unlost, a talent for finding her way out of sticky situations.
And the first couple of weeks after finishing Year One at Whitmore—two weeks almost entirely spent with her nemesis, the Norwood girl? The stickiest of situations, to be sure.
You don’t even know where you’re going, Parish,
Autumn mocks, her tone petty and unrepentant and something that Summer can immediately latch onto for her own comedic relief.
Wow, you don’t really think I sound like that, do you? Ha! You’re an even worse actor than you are a defender, aren’t you?
This snipe stings particularly deeply, causing Autumn to plant her feet and pivot back to the infuriating blonde at her back.
"That was one time, Norwood. I’m not some rich bitch who grew up with a lacrosse stick in my hands."
Parish, you hit Miss Dunbar right between the eyes with your crosse!
Autumn growls in frustration before turning back down the dirt road. She pulls out a cell phone that she knows is way out of date compared to the fancy thing Summer carries around with her, but this was the hand-me-down that her parents had been able to offer, and a hand-me-down is better than nothing. She checks the last message she had received, an encoded bit of text from one of the girls
