About this ebook

Life often tends to be turbulent and tempestuous to individuals with divine assignments. Whether it is trials from the ministry or struggles with fulfilling God’s mandate on your life, the chances of finding yourself in a quandary are high.
Authored by an anointed minister of the gospel and a dynamic writer, Be My Jonah provides tremendous insights on how to overcome the hassles associated with answering God’s call and living to please the one who sent you. It expounds the role of love, compassion, humility, selflessness, perseverance, obedience, and total reliance on God, as some of the essential qualities every believer should possess to make full proof of their ministry.
Also, it equates the life of Jonah with that of God’s servants, emphasizing the significance of the names we bear and how it affects our journey in life.  Jonah, whose name means dove and by implication, a messenger, typifies the believer of today.
Dr. Sarah Aleba, the author, completes this amazing piece by pointing us to Jesus Christ, our Jonah, for excellence.  She reveals that Jesus’ life on earth exemplifies a life dedicated to the service of God. In this book, you will learn how to identify and to step into your role in the propagation of the gospel, whether you were called to serve from the pulpit or pew.
Be My Jonah is a book that will jolt you. It is a wakeup call for believers of all ages. Grab a seat and read your way to destiny fulfilment and a satisfying walk with God.

    INTRODUCTION

Among things of value, the word of God is the greatest; a limitless and inexhaustible treasure. It functions as a fundamental guide to successful living and a compass that shows you the direction to go. The word of God is dynamic in application; to someone it can be a warning, to another a rebuke and yet another, a support in difficult situations. Without a doubt, the word of God is powerful and timeless. It is useful for teaching, convincing, correcting and for teaching in justice (2 Timothy 3:16).Indeed, each verse of the bible and story told has a purpose.

There are two dimensions to the word of God: Logos, the written word and Rhema, the revealed word, these two are Greek words translated WORD in English. Logos is the word printed on the pages of the bible that can be read, it is the total counsel of God recorded by men of God as inspired by His Spirit. The Logos is also Jesus Christ (John 1:1-14). Rhema, on the other hand, refers to the word of God revealed to you through your spirit. This can be in form of a whisper from the Holy Ghost, through a dream, a vision, a conviction in your heart, or a divine illumination of the written word. An accurate understanding of the Logos puts Rhema in perspective.

In truth, God’s word works in you according to your present need. One scripture can teach you diverse lessons at different times and circumstances. For instance, the story of a father and his two sons in Luke 15:11-32. Originally, the focus is on the younger son who was wasteful and impatient. But another profound lesson in this scripture is that of the older son, who had been faithful and hardworking all his life but never realized that his father’s properties were his to enjoy. Consequently, he lived as a poor man in the midst of plenty. So you will see that this same scripture can teach the love and forgiveness of our heavenly Father and at the same time urge us to know who we are in Christ and what He has made available to us.

From this great treasure—the word of God (2 Timothy 3:1-7), we understand the time and season we are in. Today, the world is in a state of limitless depravity and we’re experiencing a continuous fulfillment of end time prophecies and signs. Sin is at its peak, the lie has become the truth and the truth, the lie.

People are busy with things of the world, amassing earthly riches. Other disheartening signs of end time that we see around us are the deterioration of Christianity. Many believers have become weak in faith as they run out of patience and run at the frantic pace of the world.

Sadly, agape, the unconditional love of God is becoming rarely expressed among its custodians. All are interested in what their eyes can see and no longer walk by faith as taught in the scripture (Hebrews 10:38).
