About this ebook

DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN?
He was rejected and cursed by His own creation
The priests called Him Beelzebub, Satan
But the prostitute called Him Messiah
Peter called Him Christ, the Son of the living God
Abraham called Him Melchisedec.

IN HIS IMAGE is a love letter addressed to the Bride of Christ throughout the world. We are sons and daughters of the King and when we realise that, we start behaving like princes and princesses. This book expresses that we are minor gods, as one of the poems states “The deity in me, God in you”. This shows that Jesus Christ came and became a man so that we can become gods.

Vutomi Baloyi is a writer and this is her first book. Her pen name Nkhensani Vutomi combines her name and her sister’s name translated “appreciate life”. She started having interest in poetry at the age of four. Her mother was a teacher, she knew all the poems by heart her mother taught at school. She used to go to school and recite her mother’s syllabus (poems) to her mother’s leaners. She also recited her sister’s poems. When she started to read she read all her mother and sister’s books inclusive of novels and poetry. When she was at school she wrote so much that her Grade 3 teacher took her pen away, and she could only use it when doing her school work.

In His Image - Nkhensani Vutomi Baloyi

    Pastor

They call you Israel, I call you Joshua

As you walk the walk of life

Not knowing that one day you will meet God like Jacob

You met Him in the burning bush, Oh Moses

You walked with Him to Egypt

You were feeble and never trusted your abilities and characters

After all you were indicted previously in Egypt

    You had a criminal record

You were guilty before the eyes of the multitudes

    You feared, you were weak

But He said My strength is made perfect in weakness

    I will see you through

He gave you strength and you led us out of Egypt

    It was pleasant there

Thinking that we are holding God with our hands

But oh no, He was no longer there

He melted like ice, we left Him behind

What was left were wet hands

He was nowhere to be found

You Joshua, you made us cross over to the Promised Land

Moses showed us the promise but you Joshua

Through you the walls of Jericho fell

    You took us through Jordan

    You gave us the Promise

We possess like our father Abraham

For wherever our feet can tread

    There we possess

We possess as far as our eyes can see

Today we look at you as God’s servant

    Knowing that only through you

We were able to cross over

Only through you we had assurance

    That there is God

In you I see Ezekiel, Job

    Solomon, Samuel, Jeremiah, Elijah

    Elisha, David, Paul, Amos…

You set a standard so high

We know that you have reached the constellation

    The stars you have touched

For you set a pace for us

As far as you can go, so can we

Oh you became one with God

That even death can’t touch you

    Oh Enoch! oh Elijah!

    Today is your day

May God add more blessings to your life.

Where He took from you for our sake

    May He restore.

    May He multiply your seed.

I thank God for preserving your life

    For without a shepherd

The sheep have no direction, no life and no light

    But you oh Joshua

    You are our shepherd

    My shepherd

    And my way looks bright

    Today I say happy birthday

    You are my blessing

    My lord

This poem is dedicated to my Pastor, Israel Nkodima

    Do You Know This Man?

A baby born in a manger

After all, kings are born in palaces

He was raised as a carpenter’s son

    But He was God.

He said, before Abraham was I am

He was with Adam in the Garden of Eden

He ate and drank milk with Abraham

Spoke to Moses face to face

He was the whirlwind Ezekiel saw

They said you, aren’t you the son of Joseph and Mary?

You were born before our eyes

You are not even fifty and claim you saw Abraham

Who was this Man? I ask

He became hungry like you and me

Got weary, He wept, He slept

Expected fruits from a fig tree

The Eternal in Him ceased the life of the tree

With five loaves of bread and two fishes fed a multitude

When the storm roared He calmed it

The winds hearkened to His Words

He was not rich but He is the Prince of prosperity

His own priests called Him Beelzebub

He brought the mystery of the Ten
