    .About the Author

For my Great Grandpa, George Albigence Pierce

Who passed down his love of poetry

    And especially for my family,

Who faithfully provide the rhyme and reason in my life.

    Who Is He?

    He is What He is

There was no cause that brought Him into existence

No event that foreshadowed His being

No power that unstopped his ears or opened His eyes

He has always been, all knowing, all seeing

    He is an ungoverned God

He is powerful, sovereign, but chooses to love us

Guiding us in Christ’s Spirit, to become full grown

He is a faithful and unchanging God

Our shepherd, our way, our gate

    Totally Holy and justified

Trust Him now to lovingly secure your eternal fate.

    Everything Belongs to God

How long I struggled with that in my heart

    My pride and self importance

    Refused to relinquish my part

    My accomplishments and possessions

We’re only partly due to Him

Some had come to me through my hard work

Some were just coveted and bought on a whim

    How foolish was this perspective

    His ownership not to recognize

The universe is His to rule

From largest mountain to things infinitesimal in size

And speaking of things of tiny size

    My understanding was just as
