About this ebook
The Decadent Society is written by the New York Times best-selling author and columnist, Ross Douthat. This story portrays a powerful representation of how the turbulent age is defined by dark forces seemingly beyond the control of the people. Douthat gives the readers an explanation of what occurs when a prosperous and prevailing society finishes advancing, such as the combination of wealth and technological expertise with economic stagnation, political deadlocks, cultural exhaustion, and decline in demographics, creates a strange kind of sustainable decadence. Douthat also provides readers with an enlightening analysis of the contemporary condition of society and how society’s decadence might eventually end.

Introducing The Decadent Society
The New York Times best-selling author, Ross Douthat, brings the readers another stimulating and bright new book. The Decadent Society is a far-reaching, insightful work of Douthat on the stagnant state of Western liberalism. Douthat has defined the word decadence, saying it refers to economic stagnation, institutional decay, as well as cultural and intellectual exhaustion at a high level of material prosperity and technological development.
Douthat explained that the best analog of the current situation is imperial Rome, which was characterized by W.H. Auden. This city managed to survive for four centuries without warmth, hope, or creativity. Another explanation of Douthat’s Decadence is a kind of cultural fatigue and world-weariness that worries Douthat because it looks like to be justifiable rather than an introduction to
