    FOREWORD

HAVE YOU BEEN guilty of judging by first appearances or first impressions? We can be so easily intimidated by the person who seems to have it all together—they dress well, speak confidently, and appear so self-assured.

How many people wear a mask, put on a good front, strive and struggle to be accepted, spend endless dollars to do what it takes to gain approval, and yet inside remain empty, confused, and even lonely, longing to discover their identity. Just where do I fit? Who am I really? Does anyone care?

Julie’s book magnificently addresses all the above. I have savored every page and have a fresh appreciation of my life and my value, my purpose and, above all, my God. I am precious, important to God, and so are you!

There are many Christians who don’t truly understand their identity in Christ and how it can empower their lives. It is so liberating to unmask the deceptions we once settled for.

Society globally has radically changed with the increase of cross-pollination of cultures, creating a diversity of lifestyles and traditions. We also have a greater proportion of family domestic complications—and these two lifestyle challenges alone can leave individuals desperately seeking a sense of belonging or searching out their roots in a bid to discover their identity that will confirm they are wanted and loved, and which affirms they do have a purpose on this planet.

I first met Julie when she and her husband attended an evening service in our church. My first impression was that this lady has dignity, presents beautifully, has a graceful, humble confidence, and loves to worship God. I had no idea of her painful childhood in Zimbabwe, the struggles and humiliation she experienced which led to her newfound identity as a believer, aged just fifteen. She then began to navigate her way to victory as she applied the Word of truth. Julie testifies we can all be overcomers and discover as she did that God has a good plan for our lives.

Later when reading her book, it was evident Julie was writing from a personal, life changing experience. It is very engaging. She has a magnificent ability to weave the Word of God into her dialogue so that it strengthens her compelling explanation of every facet of our identity as a child of God, and leaves no doubt that Jesus conquered all life’s challenges so we can live life to the full.

I was repeatedly refreshed to read about various personalities in the Bible whose lives Julie uses to colorfully enhance her explanations of God’s faithfulness and to encourage us that He is always in control, loves us unconditionally, and is a loving Father.

This book will take you on a journey of discovering your new life and new identity as a born-again believer. You won’t want to put it down it’s so easy to read and digest. Julie has been able to unfold so beautifully a truth that will set you free to be the you God planned for you to be. Read it, love it, and live it.

    INTRODUCTION

THE WORLD GIVES us different identities from the moment we are born, through life, and up until the very end when we die. From these identities we assume various roles and responsibilities; and these may bring us joy, pride, and a sense of belonging, yet on the other hand stress, pain, and even sadness. Therefore, the number of identities we acquire through the natural process of life can either complement each other or cause strife or conflict in our lives, unless there is a solid foundation from which we can be able to maintain normalcy and stability, apart from which we risk feeling like we are being pulled from different directions. Christians are no exception.

From the instant we are born, before we may even have a name, the midwife or whoever is doing the delivery shouts, It’s a boy! Or, It’s a girl! Right there and then, when we first make our contact with the world, already we are given a title or identity. However, when we get saved or born again, something magnificent happens to us.

There is a great transformation which takes place inside which revolutionizes and changes us forever. We
