Foreword
With the onset of the internet, a new frontier has been created, bringing an entirely new digital world into existence! This digital world has vast neighborhoods of business, niche, and dating websites, and includes social media, with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
While all these sites may serve different purposes, they all require one crucial element to engage their readers: a bio.
We started noticing even the most experienced writer had difficulty writing his or her bio. They didn’t know what to include, what to leave out, and how to begin. The biggest challenge many seemed to encounter was how not to make their bio sound or look like a resume.
Our inspiration for writing this ebook is to help others by providing a good source of reference should they need it. In this ebook, you will find answers to questions such as:
Should I write the bio in first person or third person?
Why do they call it a bio and not an autobiography?
How long does the bio have to be?
How do I know what to include?
These are just a few common questions that we have encountered in our experience of writing bios. We understand that people want to know the rules to at least try to write their own bio. We say that affectionately because we as human beings have a built-in critic who is censoring what we are writing about ourselves.
