Lisa could not believe what had just happened.

This man saved her life twice, once when the High Priest was going to stab her and the second time when the man in a uniform shot at her.

The realization that she was not going to die was a bit overwhelming and she could feel the tears in her eyes.

They arrived at their destination without any incident.

Morg was pleased to see that his friend had arranged some backup in case they needed it.

They escaped so quickly that Gregor's men was taken completely by surprise and did not know what had hit them.

Lisa walked up to Mike and stretched out her hand to shake his.

This man would be her hero for the rest of her life.

"You have just saved my life twice. Thank you for that, and I don't even know your name." Lisa stated.

Mike smiled at her and took her hand and shook it. "It was a pleasure to save your life and I am pleased to meet you, I am Mike Michaelson of Earth," Mike replied.

Chapter 1

The team monitoring Fiona was having a tough time. They lost track of her when she entered Paris. Leslie was in a state of anger when he was informed that they had lost Fiona. What do you mean by the term ‘we have lost Fiona’ exactly? Leslie wanted to know.

He was in his office in London and Byron was reporting a message passed onto him by the surveillance team in France. It seems they have lost contact with her. Byron said and carried on, It is as simple as that. Byron concluded.

Leslie sat thinking about the consequences of this information. I do not believe that we have lost them. See if you can get hold of Brag for me. I wish Mike was here, I am sure that the Guardians would know where she is hiding. Leslie said and seemed to calm down.

Byron was notified by Hugo that Brag had been recalled to America, but that he had contact with Dak. Please ask Dak if he would see Leslie, it is about Fiona, Byron said.

I will make contact tonight and give him your request, Hugo assured him.

Dak first had to get authority from the mother ship before he could make contact with Leslie. The rules were very strict, but it seemed that the presence of Lisa and her team had made it necessary for the rules to be relaxed somewhat. 

When Dak entered the building the security staff had been informed that a stranger was going to make contact with Leslie and that he should be escorted up to Leslie’s office without any fuss. After identifying himself, Dak was shown to Leslie’s office.

Good afternoon, you are Leslie. The man stated and held out his hand, I am Dak, pleased to meet you. This approach by Dak took Leslie completely by surprise.

Dak what a wonderful surprise, but will you not get into trouble for being seen with me? Leslie wanted to know.

Dak laughed, No I have permission from the mother ship to discuss this problem with you. Fiona and Fred are staying in a small house in one of the suburbs in Paris. Their associates are staying in an apartment in the centre of Paris. It seems that they go to a different casino every day. Dak said giving Leslie a piece of paper with the two addresses written on it, and photos showing Fiona, Fred, Manny, Tracy and Marie. This is what their associates look like, Dak said.

Leslie invited Dak to have supper with him which Dak declined. Thank you for the offer, but I must get back to the mother ship, some other time maybe, He said. Leslie looked a bit disappointed but could understand. Anytime you are around here please call me and we will get together, Leslie replied.

Leslie escorted Dak to the entrance and returned to his office and summoned his team.

When they arrived it was clear that Leslie was in a better frame of mind. Gentlemen I have received the addresses where Fiona and the others are staying. I want you to pack your bags. We are leaving for France on the next flight. Leslie informed them.

They all departed to pick up their bags and met with Leslie at the airport where they flew to Paris.

They arrived in Paris and booked into a small guest house in the centre of Paris. With so many people coming and going their presence should not be noticed. Leslie hired vehicles for them to travel around with. Leslie made contact with his other team members who were following Fiona in the first place and had them meet with him and the rest of the team.

The first thing Leslie wanted was for them to visit each casino and see if any of the aliens were around.

Leslie had copies of the photos made for each member. We will split into two groups, Lester will take charge of the one group and I will take charge of the other group. If you see any of them, just make a note of what they are doing and who they speak to. We will meet back here for supper. Leslie said.

The team split up and started to go from one casino to the other. They had no luck, at the end of the day they all returned back to the guest house. Leslie listened to all of them. Ok, I think we were not at the same casino as what they were at. I suggest that we check their accommodation and when they leave then we can follow them. Leslie said.

The team agreed with him on this move.

Byron, who was sitting in the corner of the room listening to all of this suddenly started to speak. I come here to Paris three times a year with the missus and gamble in some of the casinos, what if I go to the casinos where the staff know me and I look around? he asked.

Leslie looked at him and smiled. "That is a good idea does anyone else come to Paris?’ Leslie asked.

Nobody else gambled in Paris so Byron was given permission to visit the casinos and see what he could find out. The rest of the team split up with one group going to Fiona’s address and the other going to Manny’s address.

Lester led his team to the address given to him for Fiona. He was cruising slowly looking for parking when Lester noticed that Fiona was pulling out of the driveway, he passed her and slowed down a bit so as to allow her to overtake him. She went past without even glancing at the car. She was on her way to the casino designated for the night. Lester had no problem following her and entered the casino ahead of her.

Leslie arrived outside the apartment building which housed Manny and was also just in time to catch Manny leaving the block.

Manny hailed a cab and Leslie followed it to the same casino where Fiona was going to be gambling. There was no sign of Fred or the other girls.

Leslie decided to rent an apartment from where he could see Manny’s apartment. They would set up a surveillance team from there. The same would apply for the area where Fiona lived. With two surveillance teams, Leslie hoped to find Fred and the two girls. It did not take long for Leslie to establish the pattern Manny was using and was able to have some of the team already in the casino when they arrived.

It was late. Leslie had been going over the report submitted by both teams. He was trying to work out what they were doing. That they were making money was no question. Every night the aliens would meet at Manny’s apartment and all the money would be placed on a table. They would take some of the money for the next day’s expenses, and the rest was placed into a safe place and taken to the bank vault at the end of the week.

And I suppose you call it work to sit and stare into space, Mike said as he suddenly appeared in Leslie’s room.

Leslie could only stare at him and shake his head from side to side. Well, it worked because I was willing you to appear, Leslie said as he stood up to shake hands with Mike. Welcome back Mike, sit and I will fill you in with what has been happening. Leslie stated and inviting Mike to sit proceeded to inform Mike of events.

Mike sat listening to the report without saying a word. When Leslie completed his report Mike made a suggestion. I will turn invisible tomorrow night and follow them into the casino, that way I can watch them and see what they are up to, Mike said.

Leslie liked that idea, he was the only one of the team who knew of the gadget Mike had. That sounds good and I think you must start with Tracy and Marie first. The reason why I think them first is that they work at a casino so any scam they are up to has been in operation for a long time. Leslie said

They spent most of the night going over the plans for the following couple of days. The suite Leslie was staying in had two rooms so Leslie invited Mike to share the suite with him. This arrangement suited Mike as he and Leslie could then talk without being interrupted by anyone. Mike unpacked his bag and they retired for the night.

They arose early the next morning and after cleaning up they went to the dining room for breakfast. The rest of the team was very pleased to see Mike. Leslie informed them that Mike would be taking over the day to day planning of the operation. Teams then took turns to tell Mike what they had experienced over the short period they were in France. It appeared that they had done a very good job. They were able to tell Mike where Tracy and Marie worked. What job they did and what shift they were on.

Mike listened to all of this information. So the girls who work are not on shift at the same time, is that so? Mike asked. That is correct, Leslie answered.

So Manny always has one of the girls at his side when he enters a casino. Mike mused and thought a bit. And the other two, what do they do? Mike asked.

This time, it was Byron who had the answer.

Fred and whichever of the girls was off duty would enter a casino and play Black Jack while Fiona and Manny would play the roulette wheel. But they do not sit with one another but sit at different tables. Byron stated.

Mike thought about this for some time looking at the team to see if anyone could offer any ideas, but they had none.

They finished their breakfast and waited for Mike to give them their orders. "As I understand it, Marie is on the morning shift and Tracy is on the afternoon shift, am I right?’ Mike asked.

That is correct then they will go out tonight to one of the casinos and gamble, Leslie stated and carried on. But in the meantime Manny and Fred will take last night’s winnings and place it in a safe Manny has at his apartment, He concluded.

Byron I want you and your team to go to the casino where Marie works and sit around and watch all the activity that goes on around her workspace. Take note of everything, no matter how insignificant it might seem. Richard, I want you to go to the casino where Tracy works and see what you can pick up on her. There must be someone there who is jealous of her and will talk. The rest of you relax for the rest of the day so that you are fresh for tonight. Mike said.

Chapter 2

Mike wanted to see where they all lived so he asked Leslie to show him the areas where they stayed. They drove around the neighbourhood for some time looking at the people. What are we actually looking for? Leslie wanted to know.

Mike smiled at this question. Well I want to see why Manny picked this spot, are there any other aliens around? Or was this a random choice? Mike replied.

Mike had Leslie stop the car a block away from Manny’s house.

He turned invisible and left the car.

Using his mind power, he lifted himself up and went over the roof of the house to look into the yard of the house. The sight that greeted him surprised him. He looked around but did not try and enter the house. From his vantage point, he could see into the back of the house through the
