The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self-realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.
Iwon’t tell your secret ...
UGHHH I NEED GROCERIES
Lydia groaned as she made a sharp left almost hitting a pedestrian. She had been looking forward to going straight home and relaxing, it had been a long day. Her boss had been in a foul mood and hadn’t done much to disguise it, so everyone was on edge at work. She just wanted a nice long soak in her tub, some wine, and some music. Now she had to put that on hold until she picked her groceries, well she would definitely need more wine.
As she pulled into a parking spot, she noticed a redhead getting out of her car.
not bad at all
she mumbled to herself.
Lydia took her sweet time and went in just behind her. She knew exactly what she needed but then she got distracted, so instead of going to the designated aisle; she stood looking lost while the redhead began picking up her items. She was average height, a nice ass, equally nice pair of breasts; she wore a well fitted pants suit and her makeup was flawless. She walked with confident strides as she picked up her grocery then headed to the checkout.
shit, shit
Lydia looked around quickly and grabbed a bottle of red wine then pursued her. As she stood in the line behind her, Lydia got a whiff of her perfume, it was Channel no. 5, she knew that fragrance anywhere. She tried to think of something witty to say but nothing came to her, So, she watched as the redhead paid, collected her bags, then started outside towards the parking lot. As she paid the cashier for her wine, Lydia noticed a bag with some items: she quickly grabbed it up and ran outside.
Lydia reached the redhead just as she was about to get in her car.
Hi, I think you left this inside
Excuse me?
Oh my God, her voice was so sultry.
You left a bag inside with your items
She looked at the two bags she was holding, then did a quick look through them.
Oh, thank you so much, my mind is elsewhere.
It’s ok, it happens, just glad I was there to help.
She took the bag and proceeded to open the car door, Lydia stood watching, trying to find something to say.
I’m Lydia by the way.
Oh, where are my manners, I’m Amber. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
Don’t mention it.
Well, have a great night, see you another time maybe.
I will, thanks. Bye.
Lydia watched Amber the redhead get in her car and drive off, she drove a hot red mini cooper. It suited her. She then walked to her own car aware that she hadn’t picked up any grocery, but that didn’t seem to matter right now. Her thoughts were on Amber, with the sultry voice. She hoped they would meet again, maybe she lived or worked close by since she came to this supermarket.
Oh well
She started her car and headed home, once there, she kicked off her heels, threw her jacket off and padded around barefoot. She went in her bathroom and turned on the pipe so the tub would begin to fill, then she added her favorite scent and watched as the bubbles formed. Lydia lit her Sea Orchid candle then poured herself a glass of wine.
She undressed and headed back to the bathroom pausing only to tell her smart speaker to play Alicia Keys, Songs in A -Minor. As she slipped in the tub, she felt her body slowly relax as the bubbles engulfed her, she let out a long sigh. Lydia lived for moments like this, when she could just be, the world outside faded and it was just her, her wine, her music and her candle.
Morning came too soon, as it always did, and she was back at work. Somehow the day seemed to pass by quickly and before Lydia knew, it was time to go home. She made a mental note to go to the supermarket to actually pickup stuff this time before heading home. She smiled to herself, only a woman would make her lose focus like that. She was still smiling when she parked her car and got a trolley this time, then walked towards the supermarket.
Hi Lydia
A sultry voice said her name and she looked up; it was Amber.
Hi Amber
She tried not to show how happy she was to see her.
Fancy meeting you again
Oh, I forgot some stuff yesterday
More like she forgot everything except the wine.
Oh ok, well it was nice seeing you
Yeah, you too.
Lydia watched her go and before she could stop herself, she blurted out.
Do you want to hang out sometime?
Before Amber could answer she added
I mean, if you want to, you don’t have to answer right now, call me. Here’s my number
She handed Amber her business card.
Ahmm, sure, why not
Oh really, great
I’ll call you
OK
Lydia waved goodbye as Amber drove off. Had she really done that; she was normally never that brave. What had come over her. She sighed, well at least it hadn’t gone badly. With a smile on her face, Lydia did her shopping then went home.
She was eating dinner when the phone rang, she wondered who it could be. Everyone knew she preferred texting to talking.
Alexa turn down the music
Okay, turning music down
Hello?
Hi
It was Amber, she knew it the moment she heard the voice.
You called
Yeah, you told me to silly
They both laughed. They spoke for a while, then on a whim; Lydia invited Amber to dinner, she said she was busy the next day, but Thursday would be fine. They made plans on where to go etc., spoke some more then Amber said she had to go. That night Lydia went to sleep with a smile on her face, she was looking forward to seeing Amber again. She was already thinking of her outfit and how to wear her hair, after deciding; she allowed herself to fall blissfully to sleep.
Thursday came and she was getting ready for her date
Come on Lydia, date: really
Well you never know; she was in a good mood and nothing would ruin it. They had decided on Bonefish Grill Restaurant, so Lydia headed there, it was a 10-minute drive from where she lived. That was one of the things she loved about her neighborhood, its proximity to places. Everything she needed was in walking distance or just a short drive.
Amber was seated at the table when she arrived, they exchanged pleasantries, until a waiter came by shortly after to ask if she could get them something to drink.
Merlot
They both responded at the same time and the waitress smiled.
Just bring the bottle
Lydia told her, then smiled at Amber who returned the smile. Amber was wearing skintight jeans with brown boots, and a sexy cream top with endless buttons. The top four were undone and it revealed a hint of cleavage, she looked amazing. Her hair was naturally curly, and she wore it in a bob; her makeup was again flawless. She looked as if she walked off the cover of a Vogue Magazine.
‘Is something wrong?"
Pardon me?
You were staring...
No, sorry, you look amazing.
Thank you, so do you.
Thanks
Lydia was wearing a long flowing gypsy dress, she loved dresses like that, loved the freedom it gave her. She knew she looked good in it, but Amber was looking amazing. The waitress returned with the bottle of Merlot, gave them a taste, after nodding their approval, she filled their glasses. They gave her their orders and when she left, started talking. Lydia discovered they shared a lot in common, Amber also lived very close to here, and her office was in a building Lydia frequented.
The night passed pleasantly, when it came time to pay, they bought insisted on doing so. Lydia eventually won by telling Amber next one was her treat.
So, what do you want to do now?
Amber said she had to get home to finish a report for her boss; it was due in the morning; Lydia was disappointed but didn’t let it show. She did not want the night to end.
Ok, I guess I’ll see you or talk to
Yeah, I had a great night, thanks again
They hugged awkwardly then walked to their separate cars and left.
In the days that followed, Lydia was so busy at work, she thought about calling Amber but didn’t want to appear over eager. So, she did not, she was home relaxing one night when the phone rang. It was Amber, she apologized for not calling earlier, but she had been out of town on business. She invited Lydia over for dinner, after giving her the address: they spoke some more then hung up.
Friday night Lydia found herself at Amber’s front door, ringing the bell. After what seemed like ages, the door finally opened, and Amber greeted her with a huge smile.
Hey you
God that sultry voice was so damn sexy.
Hey yourself
She invited her in and led her to what appeared to be a living room area. Lydia looked around, taking in the décor, the photos, everything. She was so eager to learn more about Amber, she really liked her. Amber told her dinner would be ready in a few minutes, she should just relax. Kenny G was playing in the background and Lydia smiled: that was one of her favorite artists.
Lydia sat for a few minutes then got up and walked around, there were a lot of photos of Amber, by herself and with others. There seemed to be a lot of pictures of her and one guy; she felt her heart sink. She quickly told herself that she shouldn’t jump to conclusions, for all she knew it was a brother or some relative.
She heard Amber come up behind her
Dinner is ready
Ok
She had made a seafood medley, which she found out was a favorite of Lydia’s from one of the times they had spoken. They said grace then started to eat. Amber had the same bottle of wine they had ordered at the restaurant, Lydia smiled again.
This is lovely
Thank you
Lydia kept sneaking glances at her during the meal, when they finished, she offered to help wash up. They took their wine glasses into a large gray sectional and sat down next to each other.
I need to tell you something
Amber began; Lydia looked at her intently.
"Full disclosure: I like you, a lot. The reason why I’ve been hesitant to hang out more is because....
Lydia held her head down and took a big gulp of her wine as she waited for Amber to continue.
Well, I have a boyfriend, he is based overseas, and I hardly see him; but I needed you to know. Like I said I really like you, but I don’t know how you feel about this.
Lydia was silent for a while. She didn’t realize she had been holding
