When I was thinking about writing this book and feeling a bit apprehensive about the thought of the novel experience, many people were most encouraging. Because they believed in me and supported my journey in unchartered waters, I was inspired to pen this book.
To my son, LaMar, thanks for reading my first manuscript and thinking this was a story that should be told. He felt this was a book for those who had carried the shame of poor reading skills for many years, believing it was too late to learn.
To my editor, Colleen Carpenter, whose enthusiasm for the project was infectious. Thanks for your expert editing skills and guidance and for your ability to advise as well as support my efforts.
To my friends and family members who continuously offered prayers and scriptures to keep me focused, believing and moving forward. Thank you for always being
