Belly Laugh Totally Terrific Tongue Twisters for Kids - Sky Pony Press
INTRODUCTION
These three hundred and fifty tongue twisters trip thrillingly off the tongue.
Can you say the above sentence three times fast without your tongue getting twisted and mispronouncing some of the words? It’s very difficult, but with practice you can do it!
There are two kinds of tongue twisters in this book: short ones that should be said three times fast, and long ones that you should read once (if you can!).
An example of a short tongue twister is Unique New York.
Just try to say that three times fast without making a mistake! Not that hard, right? But now say this one three times fast: Pad kid poured curd pulled cod.
The above tongue twister may be the most difficult short tongue twister of all. It was developed by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. With all the different sounds in just a few words, it’s a tricky one!
A long tongue twister, on the other hand, usually uses the first sound in each word (such as Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
) or repetitive sounds with different meanings (like How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
). Neither way makes them any easier to say, though!
Welcome to the wild, wonderful, wacky world of Totally Terrific Tongue Twisters!
A simpler picker-upper is to simply sip a super simple soup for supper.
