LETTER: GOLDFINCH AT PONTEFRACT
SIR, I would draw your attention to the misleading report that appears in your paper this week on the Goldfinch Class at Pontefract, where your reporter credits my winning Goldfinch with being a Russian. Your scribe has evidently known nothing about what he has been writing, without taking notice of some unfortunate exhibitor who happened to be present and not satisfied with his share of the awards in this class.
I think it very unsportsmanlike if a fancier cannot score with everything he puts down, he has to try to make the fancy believe someone else is showing something he has no right to show. I might say this “Russian” has been shown twice this year in British classes under competent judges without any doubt of his nationality, and in the money both times. I should be very pleased if this gentleman will enlighten us a little on this subject, as according to his report, some of
