INTRODUCTION

A new decade provides a clarion call for a new level of determination. If you’re going to rise to a new dimension, you need a renewed vision. Oftentimes, the question becomes How do I see clearly, when life becomes blurry?

I started wearing glasses when I was 18 years old. I remember sitting in class, as a freshman in college, and squinting to see the words written by the professor. A few days later, I visited the optometrist and took an eye exam. As certain letters and numbers were flashed across my eyes, I either excelled or failed based upon the view in front of me.

If it was too blurry or sharp, then I could not see clearly. So many times, we have adopted the vision that people have prescribed for our lives. The hurts and hardships have yielded a skewed view for the life we desire to live. The abuse, lack of parental presence, painful words, breakups, and setbacks have distorted the view of the vision in you.

Consequently, now we only believe that we will be what we see. So much so, that life now becomes a mystery because we can’t see clearly.

In the optometrist’s office, I realize in retrospect that what I was looking through dictated what I saw. Here is the revelation wrapped in a question. What lens of life are you looking through? If you keep looking through the lens of your past, then all you will see is negativity. If you keep looking through your tears, then life will be too blurry to see what is ahead. If you keep looking through your mess, then you will never see the message.

It’s an indictment to walk through life, having sight but no vision. As a result, you remain blind to the vision in your mind. I dare you to change the vision and view of yourself. It can only happen by looking in God’s Word, to get a clear view of how He sees you and the vision He has for you. Change your spectacles to see the spectacular. Look through His lens of love. Ask God to endow you with His vision, so that you can walk by faith into provision.

Many times we are inundated with issues and burdened by setbacks. All of which offsets our vision, removing the zest and zeal for life. If we’re not careful, we will find ourselves existing but not living.

Realize that as long as you have a pulse, you have a purpose. You’re not alive by accident. You’re here by divine appointment. You were created to live with purpose, on purpose, and for a purpose because you have a dynamic purpose.

I sincerely believe that you were born to do more than just work an 8-hour shift, pay bills, and repeat the same cycle every day. Understand the uneasiness in your soul, is that life is demanding more of you because you know there’s more for you.

Far too often, you and I have been stifled by the opinions of other people. As a result, their opinions become our prisons. Sometimes we go through life, living in a prison without bars because of our past, people’s limitations or low expectations from family members. No more! You will not throw in the towel, give up or be defeated.

This book serves as your supplemental gateway, to walk into the greatness that you were destined to fulfill. The daunting nightmare of your dark past, doesn’t compare to the sunlit dream of your favorable future.

As sure as you’re reading, is as sure as God is preparing you for what He’s prepared for you. His plan is greater than the devil’s plot. Jeremiah 29:11 affirms, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

What you had to endure just to get to this moment, is nothing short of a miracle. People counted you out, but you’re still here by the grace of God. I would suggest that the vision for your life has kept you alive. All hope was lost and you had every reason to give up, but the vision that God placed in your spirit is what picked you up.

You’ve come too far to abort or abandon it now. If you’re going to see your vision clearer, then it’s time to take a step into the unfamiliar. If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, I guarantee you will keep getting what you’ve been getting. We must learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and be uncomfortable with being comfortable.

On the other side of fear, presents the greatest freedom to walk by faith. No, not by sight but with God’s revelatory insight. Every setback in your life is being orchestrated for a powerful comeback. It’s your time to make an impact.

2020 is not only the mark of a new year, it’s the dawn of a new decade. It’s also a leap year. This is the year for your vision to leap to another level. This is your year to step into a new decade with determination and direction, in order to soar into a new dimension. So many times we focus on haters and traitors but at the end of the day, nobody can stop you but you. Don’t impede your own progress to success. Let the limiting factors of life go, so you can grow.

I never write books that are anthemic to highlight a year, much less a particular decade. However, I believe this book provides a compass for your calling. If you’re going to be successful and walk in the anointing, that God has on your life, then you must have 20/20 Vision.

Just look at the landscape of our world from political pundits, to fiscal forecasters, to religious leaders, and media influencers. Everyone wants to know, do you have a vision? Therefore what is the next step for implementation?

The number 20 is rather significant because it’s indicative of restoration. Yes indeed, this is your year for vision and provision. However, it will all be a byproduct of the restoration that takes place in your life. When God restores you, He affects everything connected to you and the vision within you. Expect a domino effect blessing, to where restoration not only hits your heart but also your house and your spouse. It will bring about change in your mindset and relationships. God will not restore you, without affecting everything around you.

What people meant for evil, expect to get double for your trouble. God is turning it around for your good. It’s your year for greater vision and restoration.

This book 20/20 Vision is written and designed for visionaries like you in mind. I want to speak to the employer in you, even though you may still be an employee. I want to encourage you as the wife or husband you desire to be, although you may be single currently. I want to challenge the champion in you, despite feeling defeated. I desire for my words to speak life into you, as you fight to live through dying places.

I know what it’s like to balance a job and a dream. The difficult days, frustrations, and inner conflict. I know the daunting task of going home tired after a long day at the job, trying to work your dream until your dream becomes your job. I’ve battled with the frustration of leaving my job, to walk in the joy of my calling, while struggling to make ends meet. Only to discover that the ends were unending and seemingly never met.

I know what it’s like to be on the edge. I’ve had to fight to stay alive, when not only my dream was dying but my own life was slipping away. Finding the God-given strength to beat what was beating me, after receiving a cancer diagnosis, immediately shook the foundation of my mentality. The power of restoration, determination and vision brought me to the pinnacle of victory. Since it happened for me, why can’t it happen for you? I’m not more significant or special than you. God brought me through and He can do the same for you.

20/20 Vision is the book for big thinkers, dreamers, achievers, believers, and visionaries. I also wrote it for those who are frustrated, challenged, and unsure of what’s next for their life. If you’re going to be a mover and shaker, there are certain things that you need to move out of your way and shake free from to get to the next level.

Be real with yourself. Take off the mask and be introspective. What is hindering you from manifesting the vision that God gave you? Is it fear, doubters, skeptics, bad habits, low self-esteem, bad relationships, or a broken heart? You can’t become who you’re supposed to be, by remaining who you’ve always been.

A butterfly was once a caterpillar too. Unless you’re bold enough to break out of what intends to break you, then you’ll never realize the greatness in you. Don’t allow the cocoon of your circumstances to confine you. The metamorphosis comes when you take the time to transition your life, which brings about a great transformation. Your time of being a caterpillar is over. It’s time to spread your wings and win. Your season of barely making it is over. It’s time to step into the place of more than enough. Your time of being limited is over. It’s time to launch to new levels. Your time of restoration is leading to greater vision and provision.

The gift that God gave you is making room for you. Nurture it. Speak life over it. Stir it and watch how God enhances it. This is your time of favor because Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world (I John 4:4).
