Introduction

The present age we are living in calls for more than just information, analysis, and intellect. Our culture tends to revere the mind and discredit the desires and imaginations of the heart, dreams, or visions. While the mind is powerful enough to create whatever it imagines, only the heart can discern what really matters.

Our culture will pay any price for comfort, relaying the message that pain is something to be avoided or gotten rid of. We are terrified of the unknown, of anger, of grief, of worry, plus other negative emotions and even of the darkness of the night. These dark aspects are part of the cycle of life, but you can rise and empower yourself. No one can empower you like you can. Within the vision of the heart, you can turn the darkness of life into the light of life. You are well able to equip yourself by the power of the Holy Spirit to face the darkness of life. You will discover how obstacles are transformed into opportunities of a lifetime as you face and embrace them.

I am now realizing that a man becomes whatever is his inner vision or dream of the heart. He does not go beyond this because the scripture leads us to understand that as a man thinketh in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7). A man has no limitation in what he can become, achieve, discover, attain, and explore in the heights of life except in his vision.

Without vision or dream of the heart, a man becomes nothing. You see, a man only becomes what his aspirations and visions are and nothing else. If you have a vision of having a 3.0 GPA in the pursuit of your academic degree, you will achieve it because that is your vision, dream, and target. You are not likely to exceed it to a 4.0 GPA. Your dreams, visions, imaginations, and desires are your limitations.

I am trusting God to help you widen and deepen your understanding of vision and purpose in life. It is very important that you become all that you desire to be. I am convinced that each one of us is gifted to impact the world with a unique message or contribution. In the course of our lives, we will find different means and ways to communicate this gift or express this message.

In this sense, I have been writing and living this book all my life both while preaching and in life’s relationships. Although the climate has recently started to change, my attempt to live as a visionary has not been easy and has not often been understood by others. I have had to go against the grain of society by being different.

As we are constantly searching for meaning in our lives, we must recognize first that our future is in God’s hand. Second, our future is in our vision of who we want to become and what we want to attain in life.

Now I would like for you to go with me into the pages and chapters of this life-transforming and inspirational book. As we begin this journey of vision and purpose in life, let me pray for you as you start reading.
