Engage God By Faith - George M. Garcia

    Chapter 1: Theological Discourse

    Scriptural Foundations

KNOWINGLY, SOME OF you want Scriptural validation as a means to avoid fallacious doctrines. I do have Scriptural support to validate my belief in perceiving the internal voice of God, including other things I'm prepared to mention. Evidently, God has spoken to the prophets and patriarchs from the Old Testament. The invisible God has spoken through many ways, even through subtler means like the imagination and creation itself. Apostle Paul said to the Ephesians, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe...  (Ephesians 1:17-19 WEB). The eyes of your heart is the imagination of our soul and the enlightened is where we begin to perceive the thoughts of God, so that we may know our callings in life with hope and experience our heavenly blessings purchased by the Blood, and that we can tap into the power of God by faith in Christ. We receive direction from the Spirit in two compatible ways: wisdom (spiritualized guidance) and revelation.

As the Lord invited others into His fellowship at the old covenant, He also invites us, Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know (Jeremiah 33:3). We cannot discover something great without guidance provided by the Spirit of revelation. I believe the Word is insufficient without divine guidance applied through us for our godly walk. There must be an experience of God, so that we can rightly understand Scripture and move into a greater faith that pleases God. Whether we need guidance, hope, or simply fellowship to fill up a void in our hearts, God can and will do all of this as long as we engage by faith.

The unbelieving will try to avoid this because they are afraid of error, and they neglect this for their own walk. Let us not deny the fact that God will always speak to us, regardless of one’s age, gender, situation, or position of authority.[9] If you are a leader, I hope you learn to walk with God through prayerful intimacy. If God isn’t present within your decisions, then there will be many errors. Even Jesus applied His spiritual sight unto the Father: Jesus therefore answered them, Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise" (John 5:19). Anything Jesus did that opposed the Father’s will, was going to be without effect unless Jesus followed the plans of the Planner. The Father is the One who plans these things for Jesus to do. Whether it was seen internally or externally, the incarnate Christ needed perception of the spiritual realm to perceive the instructions of His Father.

The Prophet Jeremiah engaged a vision of the Lord: "Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? I said, I see a branch of an almond tree. Then Yahweh said to me, You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:11, 12). In a vision, Jeremiah was shown something by God, and then this visual display was explained when he heard the Lord speak. In the Hebrew language, the word almond and watch are nearly similar, and since almond trees bud first in the spring, they were described to be, watching for spring.[10] Therefore, God speaks to us uniquely based on our culture and even our life experiences, so that our experiences with God can be understood. This verse shows us that divine communication isn’t limited by words alone.

    Revelations—Active or not?

BEFOREHAND, THE TIME when Scripture started to arise, weren’t those who were writing the Scriptures inspired by the spiritual realm? Aren’t the Scriptures considered God-inspired writings? Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (2nd Timothy 3:16, 17). If they had encounters with God, why do many people deny others of witnessing God? I understand people can abuse credibility by simply saying, I heard God tell me this. But even secular people do this, instead they believe sources from famous scientists, influential individuals, and so on. In response to assumptions, I’m not affirming that they are always wrong.

Always check a person’s character and look for the connection of it in Scripture. They could be deluded, or you might just be deceived to not believe. And people can be deceived, whether it came from people assuming they heard from God, or from people who’ve studied Scripture with their own carnal, misguided intellect. I do believe God can give us revelation in this time and the time after us, but let’s be cautious in how we present it to others. Don’t be concerned of the criticism, rather focus on what God gave you in Christ
