About this ebook

The communists consider that capitalism is unjust, perverse, inequitable and inhumane. They also believe that this economic model is the generator of immense differences between the rich and the poor, being guilty of all the problems of the modern world. In that sense, they support these communist ideals: a) end capitalism, differences in social classes and economic inequities, b) create a just and humanitarian society, c) guarantee to all citizens access to education, health, food, clothing and housing; as well as equal opportunities, and d) ensure the welfare and maximum happiness possible for humanity.

All these aspirations are in harmony with their great dream of science fiction: the existence of an advanced technological society, which would work perfectly without inequities nor money.

However, the communism has at least twelve serious ideological failures: a) the underestimation of human egoism, b) the neglect of fundamental needs, c) the despise of human curiosity, d) the denial of the meaning of human life, e) the contempt of religions, f) the restriction of creativity, g) the existence of a social class struggle, h) the persistence of great social injustices, i) the predominance of collective rights over individual ones, j) the denial of the value of work, k) the absolute control of prices, and l) the special status of the rulers.

In addition to the communist ideological failures, the atypical and irregular functioning of this system and its economic and financial infeasibility, there prevails a conflict of interests between communist ideals and the hidden objectives of its rulers. All these factors determine the failure of communism, being the creation of a just, equitable and humanitarian society a great fallacy...

The Ideological Failures of Communism - Rolando José Olivo

    I. INTRODUCTION

The communists consider that capitalism is unjust, perverse, inequitable and inhumane. They also believe that this economic model is the generator of immense differences between the rich and the poor, being guilty of all the problems of the modern world. In that sense, they support these communist ideals:

    a) end capitalism, differences in social classes and economic inequities,

    b) create a just and humanitarian society,

    c) guarantee to all citizens access to education, health, food, clothing and housing; as well as equal opportunities,

    d) ensure the welfare and maximum happiness possible for humanity.

All these aspirations are consistent with their great science fiction dream: the existence of an advanced technological society, which would work perfectly without inequities nor money (it is presented in the novel of Isaac Asimov, The End of Eternity, the Soviet story In 2017, and the popular television series Star Trek).

Although this utopia implies ending with capitalism and using a highly advanced technology that doesn´t exist. Obviously, the impossibility of achieving these objectives in the short-term leads to establishing a transition stage, prior to the consolidation of the desired communist dream (Chapter II. The Great Dream of the Communists).

In addition, the communism contains at least twelve serious ideological failures:

    1. The underestimation of human egoism.

    2. The neglect of fundamental needs.

    3. The despise of human curiosity.

    4. The denial of the meaning of human life.

    5. The contempt of religions.

    6. The restriction of creativity.

    7. The existence of a social class struggle.

    8. The persistence of great social injustices.

    9. The predominance of collective rights over individual ones.

    10. The denial of the value of work.

    11. The absolute control of prices.

    12. The special status of the rulers.

These affect the development of the referred initial stage (Chapter III. The Ideological Failures of Communism), and jointly with an inefficient economic functioning prevent: a) the success of the transition period, b) the development of the economy, c) the scientific and technological progress, d) the consolidation of communism in a golden age, and e) the faithful fulfillment of the objectives and goals of the government.

In this regard, the communist regime is established in an artificial manner, is supported by powerful strategic allies, undertakes a process of unprecedented and complex transformation, consolidates its power, manages inappropriately the economy (even if it has immense financial resources), deteriorates due to its ideological flaws, incorrect ways of proceeding and inadequate economic policies, heading towards an eventual economic-financial collapse (Chapter IV. The Atypical and Irregular Dynamics of Communism).

Also there persists a conflict of interests between the communist ideals and the hidden objectives of its rulers (Chapter V. Communist Ideals vs. Hidden Government Objectives), reflected in four aspects:

    a) the predominance of personal purposes over communist ideals and the declared objectives of the government,

    b) the non-application of guidelines and actions favorable to the collective welfare (if they harm the prized interests of rulers, policy makers, public officials, members of the communist party and strategic allies),

    c) the implementation of laws and discriminatory measures that grant more privileges to the rulers, officials, members of the communist party and even to the internal and external collaborators of the regime (in the detriment of the human rights of the governed),

    d) the convenience of not completing the referred stage of transition, in order to maintain economic, social and political status, at the expense of abuses of power and the exploitation of the rest of the citizens.

    Moreover, the ideological
