About this ebook

All my life I'd questioned the validity of the Holy Bible. I spent a large portion of my life asking questions like; who is God? Where is heaven and hell situated? etc.

Religious people had cast aspersion on me, calling me a heretic (they still do) simply because I expressed my doubts in ways that questioned their myopic interpretations of the Holy Scriptures.

Then I got an admission into the university to study History and Philosophy. In my first year, a philosophy lecturer asked a question that took me many years to answer and opened my mind to doubt the more. The question was; "Since God is omnipotent (all-powerful), can he create a stone, so heavy, that he cannot carry?" Many of my classmates who were Christians backslid simply because they couldn't proffer a valid answer to the question. From then onward, I realized that, as a Christian, I have a great responsibility ahead of me.

This book is the result of my quest to understand Jehovah's true nature and personality, through the Holy Scriptures. You'd be amazed at my findings, especially how they are in absolute conformity with the Holy Scriptures.

I wish you a happy exploration as you go through this book, line upon line!

    Prologue: Man Invented God?

    MORE OFTEN THAN not, God is described in ways that restrict, exaggerates or even contrasts His personality. In a bid to shower Him with elaborate praises and worship, we end up calling Him names and ascribing Him attributes that sometimes ridicule Him and also cloud our judgment of His true nature.

    The contradictions that these unfounded accolades often create, most times, makes it almost impossible for unbelievers and believers alike to accept that God exists in the first place.

    These behaviors and practices have forced some atheists to strongly argue that God didn’t create man; rather, for them, the man invented the idea of God. In other words, man created God.

    In his play, Sisyphus, the Athenian Playwright-Poet, Critias (c.460-403) gave an argument as to why man deemed it fit to design the concept of various gods, he says;

    "…a man of shrewd and subtle mind invented for men the fear of the gods, so that there might be something to frighten the wicked even if they acted, spoke or thought in secret. From this motive, he introduced the notion of divinity. There is, he said, a spirit enjoying endless life, hearing and seeing with his mind, exceeding wise and all-observing, bearer of a divine nature. He will hear everything spoken among men and can see everything that is done."

    Modern atheists often arrive at similar conclusions about the notion of gods because of the endless inconsistencies found in the many arguments put forward by various believers to prove the existence and nature of their gods.

    In the real sense, those who claim to have sound knowledge of the gods or God do not provide arguments that could be subjected to logical scrutiny, rather they cook up unbelievable ideas and expect everyone to accept them hook, line, and sinker. No wonder it is said that;

    Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned

    Nonetheless, the Holy Bible shouldn't be a religious book that must be accepted without questions. No wonder the Scripture says that we should;

    "Work hard so God can say to you, Well done. Be a good workman, one who does not need to be ashamed when God examines your work. Know what His Word says and means." (2 Timothy 2:15 TLB)

    This is for the simple fact that the Holy
