INTRODUCTION
Have you ever wanted to learn a new language but don’t do it because you think it will a hard and long process? Most people see language learning as a scaring or daunting activity, especially adults who have probably tried to do it while in school and failed.
In this book we will teach you how to speak Spanish through interactive dialogues, we will use these dialogues as the basis of your language lesson and as the source of your vocabulary.
The following book is a practical and comprehensive guide to learning conversational Spanish. The focus of this book is tourism and its target audience are people who speak little or no Spanish.
This book consists of 3 units, each of them focus on a different topic so learning Spanish will be easy and fun. The level of difficulty will increase from unit to unit, but the structure of the book will stay the same. All of the units contain lessons. These lessons will be composed by an overview, a dialogue, a review and a vocabulary lesson.
Each lesson will begin with a short introduction that will explain the usefulness and cultural significance of the lesson as well as giving the context on how to use it with examples of interactions.
Following the introduction there will be a dialogue and core of the lesson called review, and at the end we will have a vocabulary review, in which we will go over the words and their meaning and repeat the learned phrases.
We understand that many adult learners find language learning difficult because they cannot pronounce certain words correctly. This is why this audiobook comes with a pronunciation section, in which we will once again go over the expressions learned and practice the pronunciation of the most difficult words, so you can be sure you sound like a fluent speaker.
Through this book we hope you learn how to have basic interactions in Spanish and have a wonderful and immersive tourism experience.
You might feel as the lessons go by that this book is a little bit repetitive, but the trick to language learning lies in repetition. As a matter of fact, expert linguists have stated that in order to learn something you have to listen and repeat it at least 7 times.
This book will make you repeat new words and phrases several times, it will also give you interaction exercises, so you can practice the language. It is important to note that we recommend you listen to this book more than once, so you will not only learn the vocabulary but start to assimilate the language.
Unit 1: Time And Currency
In this unit you will learn all the Spanish words related to numbers while focusing on two important skills, being able to ask about the time and answer questions about it, and understanding currency and how to pay for the things you need. In volume II we had a unit dedicated to shopping, but here we will focus mostly on the transactional part of it.
Even though this unit has a topic that it revolves around throughout every lesson, you will be acquiring language skills that can be applied to any topic.
Lesson 1: Understanding Time
In this lesson you will learn how to ask questions related to time and the vocabulary you need to understand everything regarding the time of day.
This conversation takes place at a hotel between a hotel clerk and a business man.
Let’s listen to the dialogue.
Dialogue
Business man: Buenas tardes, señor. ¿Qué hora es?
Hotel clerk: Buenas tardes, son las dos y media de la tarde.
Business man: Gracias.
Business man: Suena delicioso.
Now let’s listen to this conversation in English.
Business man: Good afternoon, sir. What time is it?
Hotel clerk: Good afternoon, it’s 2:30 in the afternoon.
Business man: Thank you, do you know at what time the opera house opens? I have tickets for tonight and I like to arrive early, it's an event with a client.
Hotel clerk: Yes, of course, the opera starts at 8 p.m., but the house opens at 6 p.m.
Business man: And at what time does dinner at the hotel
