Chapter 1 : Introduction
Have you ever asked yourself why you are awake this morning? Probably not! Are you awake this morning because you have a job to get to, kids to take care of, a bad hangover from last night, or because you just have to?
Chances are that you wake up every day with the help of the alarm app on your iPhone or your annoying table clock because you have a job to be, a class to attend, or some other people to take care of. At least that is true for more than 80% of the people in the world. Now, if people are given the opportunity to not be at a job or anywhere else, they would continue to sleep. What does this mean?
For most people, waking up in the morning is a protest. You probably hit the snooze button once or twice this morning. You resisted waking up and subtly communicated to your subconscious that you will rather lie in bed for a few more minutes than wake up to create actively the life you want for yourself.
Most of us are living a life we do not desire. We want better jobs, bigger house, strong and attractive body, well-groomed kids, nice cars, expensive vacations, and all of the good things that life has to offer but we are currently stuck in a rut. We don’t like our low-paying jobs, especially when we have to lose our sleep over it. We know that we are not living our dreams and fulfilling potentials. We have knowledge that there is another level of success and achievement that we can get to in life but we do not have a clear idea of how to get there. Therefore, we just live each day passively. We go to work because we need to login hours. We plan go to the gym because we are having growing bellies and people are beginning to laugh at us and not because we want to look super-fit...and we end up not going. We are just stuck.
Snoozing Means Resistance
Many of us do not know that snoozing that alarm has a far-reaching effect on our dreams and our life. Delaying waking up to that exact moment when we are about to be late shows that we are starting our day with resistance. Every time you press the snooze button on your iPhone, you are building resistance to the things you are supposed to accomplish in order to achieve your dreams. You are slowly channeling negative energy into the start of your day. Each time you wake up with a frown at the sound of the alarm and you are saying to yourself, Come on, it’s 7am already. I just slept a few hours ago. I don’t want to wake up now
you are communicating to your life that you do not want to stand up to create the life you want. How you start each morning determines your mindset, and the context, for the rest of your day. If you begin every day with a purposeful, disciplined, growth-infused, and goal-oriented morning, and you’re virtually guaranteed to crush all tasks and be in high spirit.
It is common among people suffering depression to report that mornings are the most difficult. Every passing morning is lived in life. This could be because of a job they dislike or they need to go to school or due to waking up to a family whose relationship has broken down irreparably. How we start our morning has a great impact on the flow of our day. And if we are not very careful and deliberate about how we start our mornings, starting our day with a negative start can quickly force us to create a cycle of waking with anxiety, continuing the day without motivation, and going to bed unaccomplished, and repeating the cycle.
Many of us miss out on the power of positive energy, motivation, and power that comes from waking up and starting every day on a purpose, because we want. Waking up with passion and purpose and commitment will put you in the league of high
