Damien Albino is a current UPS driver, writer, martial artist, inventor, business owner and a father to two beautiful little girls. He has written two books so far. The first: How To Be A UPS Driver: Discover how you can become a UPS driver and earn $100,000 a year. The second which will be published October 2016 is: UPS Driving Gone Bad: 21 true stories of what NOT to do when driving for UPS and making deliveries. His passion for teaching start when he was teaching the martial arts. His style is Krav Maga and he fought in the ring. Back in 2006 Damien won a championship belt in kickboxing. It was for the PKF light heavyweight championship title. In that fight Damien knocked the champion out in the second round. "I guess that's where I get my never quit attitude that has brought me to this point in my life", he says. When Damien first started at UPS he couldn't believe how difficult the job was. He came from a delivery background but definitely not to this level. As he went through the UPS hiring process Damien started to put the pieces of the proverbial puzzle together and gradually the job became easier. About a year into his career his brother in-law at the time expressed interest in becoming a UPS driver. So naturally Damien took him under his wing and coached him. He basically laid out a formula that he developed, without even knowing it, and I gave it to him. Once his brother in-law got hired Damien knew he was on to something and that is how the books and the mentorship program came about. Damien's goal is to provide quality information to the world so that everyone has an opportunity to land this solid and lucrative career.

25 DIAD Training Tips You Wish You Knew - Damien Albino
INTRODUCTION
In the early 90s, UPS experienced a boom in customer base which saw the company striving hard to deliver over 10 million packages every week. To be able to cope with such a demand and do it efficiently, the company invested in the development of a technology to improve efficiency of operations while reducing cost & time of delivery and providing new customer service. The result of the investment led to the development of small mobile devices, specially-modified package vehicles and vast computer communication systems. By 1994, UPS has made it compulsory for every one of its drivers to carry the mobile Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD) which allowed package drivers to record and upload to the UPS database important delivery information. The information uploaded to the UPS network includes a digital-signature of the recipient thus further making it easy to provide real-time information to customers about their packages. In addition to this, the DIAD also makes it easier for package drivers to stay in touch with staff at the hub further ensuring that supervisors are constantly informed about important information such as a change in schedule and traffic pattern along a particular route.
The DIAD links to UPSnet; the company’s electronic data communications network which handles millions of information concerning the processing of packages and documents both locally and internationally. UPSnet utilizes more than half a million miles of communication lines and even a satellite to foster efficient package delivery across distribution sites in over 40 countries. UPSnet has been tracking about a million packages every day since it first went live in 1994 two years after UPS started tracking ground packages. The implementation of the DIAD made it possible for customers to start tracking packages in transport in 1995 when UPS added this functionality to the UPS website in a bid to improve efficiency and provide customers with the best service
