Chapter One:  The Ethical Side of Pick Up

There are a lot of pickup artists who will teach you how to pick up women using unethical, evil, and manipulative techniques, such as peacocking and negging. Sometimes, these techniques work. However, if you are the type of man who cares about morals and who respects women, these sleazy techniques leave you with the need to shower afterward.

What a lot of pickup artists forget is women are human beings, not objects to be used. These so-called gurus or coaches do not teach their students how to treat women with dignity and respect while using their techniques.

However, there are a lot of ways to pick up women without the slimy, sleazy, manipulative, creepy feelings caused by an unethical approach.

Women Are Humans, Not Objects

It is important to remember that women are humans. They are not objects or playthings. They are also not items; you can’t simply visit the local bar, choose one, and then walk out with her after buying her a couple of drinks and paying her compliments.

This point is the foundation of all of the other important ideas in this chapter. The second you forget this little tidbit, you become one of those other sleazy jerks that give the whole pick up scene a bad name.

In Clark-Flory’s article entitled, How to Get Chicks without Being a Jerk, she states that the title is tongue in cheek because if you stop thinking about women as ‘chicks’ you can ‘get’ and, ironically, you might actually get some.

Avoid Stereotypes

Jaclyn Friedman, a relationship therapist, was quoted as saying "If you're looking for any formula that will work on all women, you're doing it wrong because you're treating women as vending machines that will dispense sex if you put in the right input."

A lot of pickup artists would have their students believe that all women are the same. However, you might have firsthand knowledge of how this is definitely NOT the case.

For example, growing up, I knew twin girls. One of them was always impeccably dressed. Her nails were always done, her hair and makeup perfect, her clothes always matched. Her twin sister was completely the opposite. She was an athlete. She always kept her hair in a ponytail, wore sweatpants or basketball shorts, and had a mean right hook if you made her angry. She also was a star student and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, while her sister managed to squeak by with a C average.

If two females with the exact same DNA could be so different, then why would anyone assume any two females in the rest of the world could be exactly the same? A pickup line that might get you somewhere with one woman might cause another woman to roll her eyes.

To be successful when you are picking up women, you have to understand that they are not the same:

Not all women like the same things. Not all women like flowers. Not all women eat chocolate. Not all women like jewelry.

Not all women share the same characteristics. For example, not all women are nurturers. Not all women wish to be categorized as a member of the weaker, fairer, or gentler sex.

Not all women respond the same to the pickup lines or conversation starters you might choose.

Not all women want to be picked up. You have to respect their decision and move on.

Pick-up Techniques that Work, Don’t Always Work for the Reasons You Think They Do

Sometimes, cheesy pickup lines do work. Sometimes, the advice the pickup artists give you works. However, they do not always work for the reasons you think they do.

Overall it’s a decent book, it has some good points about picking up women and some of the actually works. The overall thing a man must have to get women or that one woman is to have that confidence.
