    Introduction

    The Oklahoma Corporation Commission website is free and available to anyone with a PC or laptop and an internet connection.  The amount of well data anyone can obtain from the website is significant.

    Mineral rights owners can find out what wells are about to be drilled on, or near, their property.  They can get spud date, date of first production, and even the name and address of the company buying the production, from any well on or near their property. Mineral owners also can download (free!) a plat map showing the unit boundaries and the location of any well on, or near, their property.  The records even go back years in many cases, for older wells.

    In this tutorial, the reader will be given click-by-click instructions on how to find basic information for existing wells on their property.  Other tutorials will offer other types of information, such as
