Into the Sun - AJ Rice
Day
Part I
Clear Skies
Running
The horizon in sight
Feet pounding in the sand
Closer with every step
But seeming just as far
Baking in the hot sun
Eyes straight ahead
Never looking back, left, nor right
Blocking out the white noise
Running in place
Chasing the fleeting sun
A New Day
An irresistible allure
An unmatched brightness and glow
An insatiable desire
So visible it feels attainable
Every day I wake up and stare into the sun
Captive to its mysticism
Burnt by its dangerous rays
Blinded to what’s right in front of me
As the sun begins to set, reality starts seeping in
As I watch the sun fade, I’m overcome with emotion
Depressed by the emptiness of the ensuing
