About this ebook

Most "diet books" make it sound so easy: do this, do that, lose weight, keep it off, have a fabulous life. The end. But we all know that fitness isn't some story with a tidy ending. It's a journey where the toughest step is the first and the destination seems to be a club where only the genetically blessed, athletically gifted and ferociously disciplined get to be lifetime members.

If only there was a way for the rest of us to make the journey to health and happiness— to that elusive place where fitness actually "fits in" to our busy schedules and doesn't require spending 12 weeks pretending to be someone we're not.

There is. It's called The Way In by Andrea Marcellus.

But be warned. This method is only for people who want to:
• Lose weight for good without eliminating any of the foods you truly enjoy. (Yes, you read that right.)
• Develop a strong, lean physique without working out like it's the Olympic trials.
• Learn how to be your own personal coach rather than your most dedicated critic.
• Make friends with food again. And the mirror. (Again, yes,you read that right.)

Marcellus — a fitness expert and life strategist with more than 20 years' experience —brings a holistic approach to the challenges of losing weight and becoming healthier. The opposite of a one-size-fits-all plan, her 5 Life Strategies guide you to determine a course of action that's right for you.

The result: an outside that matches the strong, capable person you know you are on the inside. (And maybe you'll also start your own club!)

Weight loss diets are not sustainable over the long term, and the author of The Way In insists that her method is not a diet, but rather a lifestyle adjustment. Marcellus provides some common-sense guidelines, and eases the reader into the program with a week-by-week approach. She also offers a way of tracking your progress which can be helpful to ascertain what works for you, and what doesn't. By the end of the six-week program, a lot of the suggested techniques should become a habit.I used the book over six weeks and lost a little, but not a lot of weight. However, keeping to the program, which is not difficult once one gets used to it, is not difficult and should yield continuing benefits. The thing that I didn't like about this book is that it's an ad for a phone app which has a monthly fee. I believe that a book should be complete in itself. To get around downloading the app, I went to other books for recipes. I also just made adjustments in my regular exercise/yoga practice, instead of trying out the exercises on the app. Otherwise, this book is a useful tool to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The Way In: 5 Winning Strategies to Lose Weight, Get Strong, and Lift Your Life is a common-sense approach to healthy eating. Instead of a diet book, Andrea Marcellus has written a book with a life-long food plan. The book has great tips and recipes to achieve weight loss with the focus on a healthy life-style.

This book came to me at the perfect time...trying to lose weight time...Marcellus packs a huge amount of information and detail into this book, all of which I greatly appreciate. Implementation is my problem, and having a plan laid out and how to follow it exactly is very helpful. I am just starting the journey to implementing this plan and i'll update as I progress.

There seem to be a million diet/health/lifestyle books currently on the market. This one is different. How is this book different? Most diets last for a certain number of days. At the end of that time, the weight will start to return; the diet is over. This book attempts to re-program the stomach to be satisfied with smaller portions. It is all about reduced portion sizes. This book also authorizes a specific mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. For instance, eating nothing between breakfast and lunch will make you overeat at lunch. The author advocates the 80/20 Rule. Eat healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, 80 percent, or more, of the time, and spend no more than 20 percent of the time eating bad foods, like soda and ice cream (the book gives lists of good and bad foods). That's right, nothing is forbidden in this book. It is important to learn to stop eating when you are satiated, not when you are full (there is a difference). Get away from the "Clean Plate Club" mentality taught by your parents. When it comes to exercise, moderate exercise is more than enough. There is no need to train to run a marathon, unless you really want to run a marathon. Getting your heartbeat up for 30 minutes at a time, several times a week, is all you really need. Also, standing burns more calories than sitting, so do more standing during the day. This book feels very plausible, and easy to follow. For those who have tried every diet available, maybe a new approach is needed. Instead of counting calories, try getting your stomach to be happy with less food. This book is very much worth checking out.

The book is written in a nice conversational style. She focus on portion size and eating the best habit foods. She encourages mixture of exercise type. On her website you can download additional copies of all the work sheets.
