    EVEN WITH HIS BLENDER on fire, his dog barking at a canary flying around the apartment and the fact that he was dressed in nothing but a beat up cardboard box labeled BRIAN’S GOOD STUFF inked in black sharpie; Brain furiously clicked away on the keyboard of his laptop, fighting the deadline of a lifetime and the flashing low battery sign.

    Brian was a special case.

    Not entirely accident prone...but not overly lucky either.

    His best friend on a good day could tell you that Brian just happened to have the world go off around him. Always when he was making big decisions.

    The smoke was rising now, gently caressing the fire alarm which held dead batteries. A bead of sweat fell into Brian’s eye. Nadine was asleep in the bedroom, she would wake up screaming soon to quiet Howdy, the dog they bought together. But that’s not all she would be mad about.
