About this ebook

The Silk In The Apple has quite a bit of controversy swirling around it. I remember Slydini telling me he performed this routine on Cuban television in the 50's and it created quite a stir. He said when he walked down the street people would come up to him, point, and say 'The Apple'! This wonderful trick is suitable for stage and platform. You will also learn a very commercial variation, the Silk in the Pony Glass.

Thank you for taking a look at my profile page. Welcome! My magic e-books are dedicated to my teacher Slydini. It is my sincere hope that some Magicians will take up a serious study of his Art and pass it on to another generation of Magicians. My e-book: The Glass through the Table is a free download, my way to introduce you to the Magic of my teacher, Slydini. . Ever since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated with Magic, those old time private eye movies, especially the Maltese Falcon starring Humphrey Bogart, playing cards, and all things Italian. One night, while walking through the San Francisco Financial District, the idea for my own detective stories came to me. I’ve written two e-books that will teach you how to play some great Italian Cards games. My e-book: Scopa is a free download, my way to introduce you to my detective and the Italian Card Game Scopa.

    Introduction

The Silk in The Apple has quite a bit of controversy swirling around it.

I remember Slydini telling me he performed this routine on Cuban television in the 50's and it created quite a stir.

He said when he walked down the street people would come up to him, point, and say 'The Apple'!

Slydini asked a spectator, usually a woman to join him on stage. Next he showed an apple that had its’ center cored out. It was very clear that there was nothing inside the apple.

This done he carefully, openly, wrapped the napkin with some paper napkins and asked the woman to hold it up so everyone in the audience could see it.

This done he displayed a long serpent silk. He flicked the silk at the apple a few times and then began to poke the silk into his closed left hand. As he poked the silk into his hand, a bit at a time, he would pause and flick the exposed portion of the silk at the apple in a kind of 'taunting' way.

Suddenly he would open his hand. The silk was gone. Using his pinkie, he poked a hole into the napkin and the reached into the apple with his thumb and forefinger, withdrawing the silk form the apple!

Older Latin people can be superstitious and for whatever reason this routine strikes a chord with them.

I am Italian American. I remember doing this trick for my great aunt. She was born in Italy and in her late eighties when I showed this to her. She actually became afraid and called the
