    Materials

    •Red Heart Amore medium (worsted) weight polyester yarn (3½ oz/198 yds/100g per skein):

    2 skeins each #6316 chamomile (MC) and #6638 restful (CC)

    •Kreinik reflective yarn:

    1 spool for each item (optional)

    •Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

    •3 small football buttons

    •Tapestry needle

    Gauge

    8 dc = 2 inches; 4 dc rows = 2 inches

    Take time to check gauge.

    Pattern Notes

    Reflective yarn is used in first 2 rounds of Hat only.

    Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

    Chain-3 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

    Hat

    Starting at crown, with MC and reflective yarn held tog, ch 24, join (see Pattern Notes) to form a circle, being careful not to twist the ch.

    Rnd 1: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in same ch, 2 dc in rem chs around, join to the top of beg ch-3. (48 dc)

    Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc) around, join to the top of beg ch-3, fasten off both yarns. (60 dc)

    Rnd 3: Join CC only to joining st, ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 4 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc) around, join to the top of beg ch-3. (72 dc)

    Rnd 4: Ch 3, (fpdc—see Stitch Guide around next dc, bpdc—see Stitch Guide around next dc) around, join to the top of beg ch-3, fasten off.

    Rnd 5: Join MC to joining st, ch 3, dc in rem dc around, join to the top of beg ch-3.

    Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in rem dc around, join to the top of beg ch-3, fasten off.

    Rnd 7: Join CC to joining st, ch 3, dc in rem dc around, join to the top of beg ch-3.

    Rnd 8: Rep rnd 4.

    Rnd 9: Join MC to joining st, ch 3, dc in rem dc around, join to the top of beg ch-3.

    Rnd 10: Ch 3, dc in rem dc around, join to the top of beg ch-3, fasten off.
