Preface:

Telekinesis is said to have been coined in 1890 by Alexander N. Aksakof (1832-1903) Imperial Councilor to the Czar. In Modern Latin, it means, literally, motion at a distance, and in German, Fernwirkung (dictionary.com). It is generally understood to mean the production of movement in an object by use of the mind, without the application of physical force. It has been scientifically proven. This is a work of fiction. Similarities to persons living or dead are purely coincidental.

Part I

When he wasn't teaching Classics and English as a second language in South Africa, Berlitz Wild-Cloud lived in Nahant, Massachusetts. He’d bought a house from a doctor at the edge of the peninsula. Berlitz left the doctor’s shingle out front. It read H. R. Shanks, M.D.

One Friday afternoon Berlitz was on the mainland, at the Blue Dolphin. He was having a lobster, an ear of corn and a dozen sandy steamers with Dolores, a former student of his, now a writer, actress and filmmaker.
