Why is a nearly 14-year-old boy writing poems? The reason why I can explain easily. On the one hand, there was my Literature teacher. It was simply a homework assignment! After that went to be fun, another important factor of a 14-year-old boy came along: Love! What made the girls melt away, if you were not just a sports star: self-written poems! So much for my initial motivation. But I do not want to hide that I had already written smaller stories in elementary school, unfortunately, all are lost.

Erik H.J. Heeren wurde 1975 in Aurich/Ostfriesland geboren. Er studierte zunächst zwei Jahre Chemie, wechselte dann aber auf ev. Religion und Anglistik an die Universität in Oldenburg. Erik H.J. Heeren schreibt seit seinem 14. Lebensjahr Gedichte. Dazu kommen zahlreiche Kurzgeschichten und 2018 ein Roman, sowie 2023 eine 200seitige Novelle. Weitere Romane und ein Kurzgeschichtenband sind schon in Arbeit.

Why is a nearly 14-year-old boy writing poems?

The reason why I can explain easily. On the one

hand, there was my Literature teacher. It was

simply a homework assignment! After that went

to be fun, another important factor of a 14-year-

old boy came along: Love! What made the girls

melt away, if you were not just a sports star: self-

written poems! So much for my initial motivation.

But I do not want to hide that I had already

written smaller stories in elementary school,

unfortunately, all are lost.

These first motivations for writing gave birth to a

passion that quickly broke away from the starting

factor. Over the years, I liked writing, finding the

perfect poem, writing a sense or state. Later,

when I was asked at the university about why a

housework would have to have 15 pages, I was

told the following: "If you can get it all together on

one page, then that's enough." A good

suggestion, but I've never managed at least

during my studies. But is not a poem the

essential described?

A poem manages to tell entire sagas in just a few

lines, express feelings and summarize contents.

In my search for the perfect poem I was never

alone. Many thanks to my family, who had to

serve as test readers again and again. But I do

not want to forget my friends in the high school

graduation class at the Economy Highschool.

Somehow, in the 3 years, a small group of writers

developed with you and we competed with our

poems and stories. A very creative time back

then.
