Rhythms of Life: A Poet's Handbook for Families
()
About this ebook
Heartfelt memories are painted across the pages, as the author transforms everyday experiences into inspiring poetry.
The poems relive our ordinary experiences and the rhythm of our lives. There are poems about babies, children, teenagers, family, fathers, and mothers. There are also poetic renderings of the holidays throughout the year. One poem is entitled, A Mother Isn't Needed Much, Except A shorter poem about mothers is:
TO BE A MOTHER
A precious calling to women who can train
up children strong and true.
A mother is a special jewel that shines
With Godly love,
Reflecting how God meets our needs
With blessings from above.

THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE
Your first response- pure shock and disbelief
The one that you loved was a Child of God,
The second is doubt and then deepest grief
Then anger appears at God and at man,
And finally your heart strives to understand.
Why does darkness and death strike at those you love
As you seek comfort and strength from above.
You may never find the answers completely
But slowly you know this grief you will meet
When your life’s hope is in the Lord’s own will,
The deepest pounding of your heart God will still.
BABIES
DSC02497.jpgA TINY LIFE
A tiny life within you grows,
Excitement builds because you know
This child is a part of you,
A portion of yourself, brand new!
As parents now a charge is given,
You’ve been blessed, a part of heaven
has just arrived under your care,
Training must be a task both share!
Teach (him/her) early to serve the Lord
This is one gift you can afford.
Shower your love through all (his/her) life
To help (him/her) face the pain and strife.
This tiny life is in your hands,
Make sure God’s love (he/she) understands.
Commit your lives into God’s care
And he will answer every prayer.
NEW BIRTH (Spiritual)
Welcome to God’s family
angels shall rejoice,
When one on earth repents of sin
And makes God’s Son his choice.
Our family is growing now
but there is room for more,
We love and learn together here
That’s what a family’s for!
THE NEW BABY
(For a boy)
The moment’s here you’ve waited for,
A fragile baby now is born.
With pride and love you show your joy
The Lord has blessed you, it’s a boy
(For a girl)
The moment’s here you’ve waited for,
A fragile baby now is born.
With pride and love you’re in a whirl,
The Lord has blessed you, it’s a girl!
A PRECIOUS GIFT
A precious gift a baby brings,
a taste of Heav’n above;
And as he grows from you he’ll learn
The story of God’s love.
So tenderly and with much prayer
Train him the way to go
And when he’s grown he’ll honor you
The ones that loved him so.
