About this ebook

Among religious persuasions that have caused divisions in our Lords church, headship and womens religious head covering may be misconceptions of what the apostle Paul really meant to write. This book attempts to share a word study of 1 Corinthians 11 in the original language, and also share observations from a broader Bible view.

What does the Bible really have to say on this controversial subject?

The traditional interpretation of 1 Corinthians 11 lacks some answers. Herein are some Bible study observations that reveal new insight and deserve to be considered.

    About The Author

    INTRODUCTION

T he Bible has much to say about the heavenly beauty and power intended for our Lord’s church, including for this present time. It says that believers are heirs of God along with Jesus, and that the Spirit of Almighty God dwells in them. Having Jesus within us, entitles us to receive spiritual benefits, and serve them to others, like Jesus did while he walked among us as a human.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. As we apply his exceeding great and precious promises, we may share in the divine nature, having escaped the world’s corruption.(from 2 Peter 1:2-4).

Our world desperately needs this supernatural element of love and wholeness that God has made available through Jesus. Too often, our various Christian religions have crowded and hampered Jesus, who is God’s solution for the problems of our daily lives. Maybe, instead of accusing the world for its failures, we should apologize for our failing to demonstrate the solution.

The church of the Bible that Jesus is building is to be an undivided body. Many Christians also adhere to a denomination, that is sometimes called church, which is somewhat isolated from other believers. They are comfortable with the traditions of their own group and frown on a study that is beyond their own denomination. They like where they are at religiously, and don’t want their boat rocked.

Among conservative believers, most people are quite defensive for the beliefs of the group they have chosen to identify with. Cultural biases become deeply ingrained and are difficult to inspect. They may feel that only other groups have cultured, and become cults.

A story tells about a missionary, who attempted to correct some primitive natives in their established belief of elephant wisdom. Whenever an elephant attempted to attack a hunter, they believed that his wife was being unfaithful and therefore she was punished. After the missionary gave an extended logical explanation of their error, they simply said, Do you think that you know better than the elephant?

Jesus had his greatest conflicts with the established religious beliefs of the leaders of God’s chosen people. He said, You reject the commandments of God and hold on to your own traditions.(Mk.7:9) They had added hundreds of detailed laws and felt they had improved some principles. They meant well and their belief system was well established, but it had slowly shifted away from God’s purpose.

Are we any better? While the Bible clearly states, there shall be no divisions in the true Church that Jesus is building, we justify our denominational factions with petty religious issues. How this must grieve our Lord, who prayed; "That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are
