The Red Haired Hare is about a nice, caring hare named Ruby who was bullied most of her life. Ruby wanted to be accepted by Mike Multi-Hare, the hare that bullied her the most. She gave up her most beautiful asset to be like Mike. Ruby didnt know it, but Mike was jealous of her and he wanted to be like her. Ruby wanted to look like Mike and Mike wanted to look like Ruby. Despite being bullied, Ruby always maintained good character. Ruby realized that she was okay before she changed and Mike realized that good character is more important than outward appearance.

Barbara Sledge-Yancy was born and raised in Enfield, North Carolina. She now resides in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Barbara earned an Associate of Science Degree in Business from Kittrell College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Psychology from North Carolina A&T State University, and a Master of Education Degree in Counseling from Campbell University. Barbara has over 25 years of experience working in North Carolina public schools. She has kindergarten through twelfth grade experience in School Counseling. Barbara started writing stories to supplement instruction during classroom guidance sessions. After several groups of students applauded when she finished reading some of her stories, she was inspired to publish her work.
