About this ebook

Aaron Jones began writing poetry in the late 1980s. He was inspired by his brother Eddies band, Southern Acoustic, to compose his poems in the form of songs so they could be easily adapted to music. Aarons series of poetry collections is entitled Lyrics in Search of Music due the fact that Eddie could not write music to words already written.

Aarons poetry covers a wide range of topics, from the ups and downs of love to taking one step at a time to get ones life back on track. He has created his poetry collection with the hope that at least one poem may have life breathed into it through the pairing of his lyrics with the right music. Each poem a lyrical feast waiting to be launched by the perfect melody.

A unique journey towards mankinds constant search for hope. It closely mirrors emotions that everyone experiences and can easily relate to . The elements of great music lie within these pages waiting to be discovered!

    This book is dedicated to

    My hero,

    My father,

    Edward W. Jones Sr.

    (1920–2001)

Thank you, Lord, for giving me

    this opportunity

    to share these words

    that you have given me.

I would like to thank God and my mom, for without them, this would not be possible.

And in no particular order, I’d also like to thank the following:

    my brothers and sisters; all my friends in Huntsville and in Metairie;

    my family in Humble, Texas;

the people at the Atlanta Bread Company and the Fried Tomato,

the people at Costco, and everyone at the Balance Studio

    for making my mother and I feel right at home;

and the parishioners at St. John’s and St. Ann’s Catholic Church

for making us feel like part of the family.

    Also, thanks to Christina Meeks.

And a special thank you to Maleah Bagwell for editing me.

And all the Angels that help bring my mother back to us.

    God bless.

    Introduction

My name is Aaron C. Jones. I was born in Metairie, Louisiana, where I was raised by my father, Edward, and mother, Edna Jones. I was raised along with my sisters and brothers, Linda, Shirley, Mary, Eddie, Debbie, David James, and David Frank. My father worked at the American Standard plant in New Orleans, Louisiana, after the war. My father was a Pearl Harbor survivor. My mother was a housewife and an awesome mom. I am the baby of this bunch.

I started writing back in the late 1980s. My brother Eddie had a band, and this inspired me to start to write poems in the form of songs. But he said he could not write music to words that had already been written. Thus the title of the book, Lyrics in Search of Music

I hope you like what I have given to you so far. I think the best is still yet to come. The poems are in chronological order. Don’t forget to take a look at Volumes One and Two.

My challenge to you, the reader, is this: do what my brother could not. Find a home in music for at least one poem. Breathe life into it. Provide it a soul, and make a dream come true.

I would love to hear what you create.

    God bless.

    from the

    2010 Sessions

The following selections were written throughout the year 2010

    I Love You

Got to get a message on through

I don’t know why, but I know that I do

Got to get a message straight to you

If you don’t like it, you can tell me adieu

Got to tell it to your broken heart

I don’t know why, but I know that I do

Should have told you from the start

If you don’t like it, you can tell me we’re through

Got to get a message to your tattered soul

I don’t know why, but I know that I do

Need to tell you before it takes a toll

    I don’t know why, I Love You

Got to get a message on through

I don’t know why, but I know that I do

Got to get a message straight to you

If you don’t like it, you can tell me adieu

Got to tell it to your broken heart

I don’t know why, but I know that I do

Should have told you from the start

If you don’t like it, you can tell me we’re through

Got to get a message to your tattered soul

I don’t know why, but I know that I do

Need to tell you before it takes a toll

    Lies and Truths

A lie is a lie no matter how you say it

The truth is the truth; that’s how you should play it

A lie is a lie no matter how you convey it

The truth is the truth, no matter how you weigh it

    What’s the point of lying?

    You’ll only end up crying

We never get away with it

You’ll only get deeper in it

You know the truth shall set you free

No matter how you slice it from A to Z

The truth you can always trust

Even after you have turned to dust

A lie is a lie no matter how you say it

The truth is the truth; that’s how you should play it

A lie is a lie no matter how you convey it

The truth is the truth, no matter how you weigh it

One lie always leads to another

Your soul it starts to smother

A lie will lead you astray

In the end we all have to pay

    Truth, you can’t go wrong

Truth, helped me write this song

Truth is the only way to go

This is something everyone should know

    (Repeat Chorus)

    What Lies Beneath?

Every day it seems I am bracing for impact

Sifting through the lies amongst the facts

Every day I feel I’m about to crash-land

I get knocked down every time I make a stand

    Everywhere that
