About this ebook

Clara is based on me as a child, I was a bit naughty and always had a vivid imagination. 'The No I Didn't Lady'is a real person to me, she is not just cardboard! I did visit a Snow Hill Horsey, as in my book, the creature did indeed come out of the snow sea! Roger is a real person, I have seen him several times.. Henry Nightingale and Dennis Ryan are ancestors, as is Delila Druit, based on our Great Nan: Agnes Boughtwood, she was a wizzard in the kitchen! Sas is my sister Sarah, she often made games up with me and the cardboard lady. The book is spiritual in nature, in a mild way so not to scare. The stories introduce us to the angels and Fairy Kingdom. There is an emphasis on supporting Mother Earth and her 'Bee' population as well as all other creatures.

I dedicate this book to my ‘Mother in law’: Valerie Outen. She is a strong and good person. Remember, we do not always get on with fellows all the time but at times of safe rescue people who love us truly come through, they teach us the lessons of life, we cannot always be right. I remain eternally grateful to you Valerie, without you this book would not have been published xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

In early years we see things clear.

As clear as they might be…..

We see through eyes with no disguise,

    : Of light and purity.

So come and see the ‘before’ times.

Where songs and pictures may just rhyme.

A place so safe and full of colour, going back in my mind.

The ‘No I Didn’t Lady’ is made of cardboard and stands a full four inches high. Her real name is Mrs Brenton. She wears bright coloured clothes, has curly brown hair and big brown intelligent ‘horn rimmed spectacles’, the spectacles are huge and take up most of her funny face: they make her eyes look big and interesting. For now they can be called goggles.I will look back, back, back and tell you her tale.

This little cardboard lady was born in a shoe box, in the rolling countryside of Wiltshire and was cut out with scissors and coloured in with a rainbow of crayons, in the back of a car, on a day trip to Devizes. Devizes is a magical place where we sat at the fountain at lunch time, watching nosy women gossiping about their stupid husbands.

Clara had made her and called her ‘The No I Didn’t Lady’ and other times Mrs Brenton. She came with Clara here and there and everywhere. This little person could bungee through the trees and climb tall buildings. What a great cardboard lady. Her favourite food being raspberry sponge cake (No pips allowed) and spam fritters. She always liked to save a bit for later in her shoe box bed. Clara sometimes found her asleep in the box with jam all over her big, silly face. Sometimes the cardboard women got ‘stuck fast’ in her bed with all the jammy mess. When Clara said:

Did you eat the sponge cake Mrs Brenton? `The No I Didn’t Lady’ replied:

No I didn’t! and then passed wind, which is very rude indeed! Don’t pass wind as it can do people in.

She always said the ‘T’ at the end of the sentence louder for some strange reason as she was a bit odd. It is always interesting to be different to everyone else! Her one bit of advice would be: Whenever you can, be entirely different from others my dears! If they smile growl, if they are angry then be happy!

Clara loved her as much as her pet wood bugs, she loved her even as much as her best ever wood bug ‘in all of history ever in time, forever and ever’-amen: Bertram, who sadly never returned after Clara’s holiday camping expo in Devizes. She
