Poetry for the Soul - Janice Stampley Means
BLESSED HOPE
Every poem that God has given me to write
Will put some blessed hope into someone’s life
Because I know there’s a poem that you may read
That’ll give you blessed hope in your time of need
Because every testimony that I’ve been through
Someone around the world is experiencing it too
And I tell my trials to glorify Gods’ name
And to keep my testimonies from falling in vain
So by me testifying on what I did to cope
Is giving someone else some blessed hope
HURT
When the courts are about to send a loved one away
Their family is hurt and left with nothing to say
And it’s hard for them to listen and be strong
When they know that society wants you gone
Because during the act of committing a crime
You’re not thinking about
the consequences down the line
Because if you was you would see
How hurt your family and friends would be
Because whatever sentence you receive for that crime
Your loved ones will also have to do that time
And once you’re sentenced, shipped and gone
Your loved ones will have to make it on their own
But all you had to do was find some legal work
And no one would’ve ended being hurt
So not only do you have a price to pay
But you’re hurting your loved ones along the way
A PRICE
I’ve written a few books during my life
And the first thing people ask is What is the price?
But if they knew the trials that I’ve been through
They would see I paid a price for everything I do
Because no matter what we do throughout our life
Somebody is going to have to pay the price
And for me to have the testimonies I have today
You know I paid a price along the way
But no matter who you are or where you’re from
A price was on your life since the day you were born
And even God had to pay the ultimate price
By giving up his only son to save our life
But before this anointing was placed on my life
You can rest assure I had to pay a price
GODS PLAN
I wish my family and friends could see
The plan god has in his will for me
Because after being cut up, talked about & abused
God said I’m still the one that he wants to use
I never lived a glamorous life
But I was blessed to become someone’s wife
But problems occurred along the way
That was especially designed to test my faith
But life’s just a series of testimonies & test
And we’re only required to do our best
But now I realize what he wants me to do
And that’s to help usher others through,
So when you see me doing something
you don’t understand
I’m only fulfilling Gods’ majestic plan
USED
It’s hard to love someone when you’re feeling used
Because every day you feel more hurt and confused
And no matter what it is you try to do
They’ll still find a way to use you
It’s as simple as asking you to use your car
So they can drive around while you’re at your job
And because you love them you give them
chance after chance
To step to the plate and act like a real man
But as long as you allow them to do what they do
You can rest assure they’ll continue to use you
HOMETOWN
I left my hometown when I was eighteen
To experience places that I’ve never seen
I decided to leave the only place I knew
So that I could experience the city life too
And since I had never been far from home
I was homesick the whole time I was gone
But even though the city is exciting and full of lights
It could never take the place of the quiet country life
And by living in the city all my adult life
I had forgotten how it feels to rest at night
But now that I’m older and set in my ways
I’ve been thinking about my hometown more every day
Because I’ve been in the city for far too long
And now I’m ready to go back home
Because after living in the city it has made me see
That returning to my hometown is the best thing for me
MOMENT OF PASSION
I’m disappointed in our women today
At how they’re carrying themselves the wrong way
Because instead of finding out what’s on a man’s mind
They’re focusing on his body at the time
