About this ebook

The journey to any form of ministry is the most exciting journey you will ever take. There is no roller coaster that can compete. The only way to feel the excitement is to take the journey. This journey brightens a life like nothing else can. As you read this book your emotions will be stimulated with such statements as:
Are you trying to put your name on that mountain of success, or erect a flag that gives honor to God!
Words that are contrary to our actions make us two-faced!
The best way for our buying audience to have confidence in the gospel we present, is for us to display it in our own lives. Show the world what you're working with!
-----------------------------------------
In the pages of this book, you will receive practical help in your journey; renewal of your faith that whatever God has called you to do, He will qualify you. There will be obstacles along the way, but success is assured, --not based on man's opinion -- but based on your submission to the will of God.
In spite of the obstacles along the way, as long as you submit to God's will, there is no failure in Him.
As you make THE JOURNEY CALLED MINISTRY, be reminded , there is humor in even the smallest task God calls you to do!
Enjoy the journey and the blessings that follow the chosen of God!

Being in the Willis family for more than 24 years, I have on many occasions heard Mother Willis speak, lead prayer groups, sing and encourage others to be strong in the Lord.

Little did I know we would share so many of the same struggles and disappointments along the way. God put us together as He knew I would need her wisdom in dealing with my own pain.

It wasn’t until a couple years ago, as I listened to her teach the young ministers’ wives at The River of Life Church where my husband and I pastor, did I realize what profound knowledge, that had not been tapped, began to flow out of her. She was raised in a pastor’s home and then began her life as a minister’s wife at a very young age.

We all wanted more… but the session was over.

Then it hit me! Mom, you need to write a book about these things because there are little to no resources for ministers/leaders’ wives.

Mother Willis has seen and experienced it all and I am so proud and happy she has agreed to share her wisdom in writing for the rest of us to enjoy. The Bible says for the older to teach the younger and this book fulfills that directive.

This book is not only for pastors’ wives and pastors. It is a tool for anyone in the ministry/leadership or anyone who aspires to be in ministry/leadership. It is a lifetime of experiences and challenges that has become a valuable resource to the body of Christ.

Thank you, Mother Willis, for being a wonderful example of a Woman and a Warrior. I am a better woman, wife and Pastor’s wife because of you and could not have benefitted so much without you.

    INTRODUCTION

    img01.png

I had the privilege of being raised by two beautiful people, my parents, who loved and served God with all their heart.

My father was called by God into ministry when I was a very small child. Being a humble man, he felt he was not qualified for the calling. But God knew better.

It was during the second world war, and my father was an Industrial Patternmaker by trade, and he knew he could make a good living for his family by moving to another city. All industry was mobilized for the war effort, and the patternmakers in Detroit, MI were working around the clock, seven days a week not only earning an hourly wage, but bonuses.

So we moved to Detroit. That was not according God’s plan; God had other plans, and He began to work His plan.

My mother became very sick, and could barely walk through the house. The good wages that my father was able to earn were spent on doctors and medication for my mother. In those days everybody did not have a phone in their home. Because we did not have a phone, the bishop from our home state, called the pastor of the church my parents were attending, and asked him to have my father call him. The pastor came to our house to deliver the message, and my father went to the neighborhood phone booth to return the Bishop’s call.

The bishop gave my father the message that God had given him. There was a church
