Wealth Without Sorrow - Debbie Kirk
Foreword
Debbie is both a good friend to me and an amazing gift to the body of Christ. She has deep insight into the principles of blessing and wealth. These have been formed in her through years of growing in knowledge and faith concerning resources and money. She has an understanding of God’s desire to bless His children, and a revelation of the true prosperity that can permeate every aspect of o ur lives.
In this book, Debbie will inspire a hunger in you to walk in the fullness of the blessings God has for you. You will be challenged, energized, and enlightened as Debbie shares the path she personally walked - including lack, sin, rejection, self-dependence, hard work, discovery, blessing, and eventually, wealth.
I believe that reading Debbie’s book will transform your life. If you are in desperate need of God’s provision in your life, she will help you get on the right path. If you are already convinced of God’s desire to bless you, but you have not been able to walk into those blessings, Debbie will help you understand areas that need to be totally changed, slightly adjusted, or somewhere in between.
Debbie is a sincere, authentic woman of God who wants to make a positive difference in many people’s lives. I highly recommend Wealth Without Sorrow, and I am honored to write the foreword to this impactful, life-changing approach to life with the blessings of God.

Introduction
The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22
Did you know, I mean really know, that it is God’s desire to bless His children? Do you know that He has a purpose for that blessing?
I am a firm believer in biblical prosperity. I believe there is one gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and it includes prosperity. I do not believe in a prosperity gospel that goes against God’s written Word and principles or is singled out as a separate prosperity gospel. Our heavenly Father wants us to prosper so He can use us to expand the kingdom of God on this earth. The Bible says:
Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.
(Psalm 35:27)
Believers today must be so careful that what they are being taught lines up with the Word of God. God wants to bless His children so that we, in turn, can be a blessing to others. God’s promise to Abraham was that through him, all the families of the earth would be blessed. This speaks of Christ, but it also speaks of all of us who are God’s children and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). God wants us to be radical, generous givers who display the love of Jesus to a lost and dying world. That takes finances, folks!
God wants to bless His children so that we, in turn, can be a blessing to others.
As I was sitting in the dining room of one of the greatest Bible teachers of our day, Marilyn Hickey, I shared my passion for what the Lord has taught me over the past 30 years, regarding biblical prosperity: That God desires to bless His children abundantly, and He has given us a perfect blueprint to walk in that blessing, line upon line, precept upon precept, according to His Word.
It is with her encouragement that I write this book. My desire is for you to understand true prosperity and not be ensnared by the enemy or deceived by the spirit of mammon that has trapped so many. My prayer for you is that you will open your heart and allow God to shape, mold, and train you to be the blessed person that He has called you to be and for you to be free from the things that, until now, have kept you from prospering.
In writing this, my desire is that this is not just another book that comes across your line of vision. There are many good books out there, but I have no desire to provide just a good read. My passion is that the principles you read about in this book, and the corresponding online course (should you choose to take it), will change the trajectory of your life. Be on the lookout for key takeaways that God will use to speak to you about your life and where he wants to take you, specifically.
As I travel and teach the Word of God, I am more convinced than ever that God wants His children to be free, not only in their finances, but in every area of life. How we relate to money is a good place to begin, as it touches every other area of our lives, and because it is an outward manifestation of what is happening in our soul.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 2)
Soul prosperity is very important; the condition of our soul will either cause us to walk closely with God, according to His ways, or be ruled by the desires of the flesh. If we will only believe and act on what God says in His Word, we will be free; but we have an enemy, and the battleground is in our very soul.
I was talking with a young woman who had come up to me after I finished teaching on financial stewardship. Can you pray for me?
she asked. Sure,
I said. But as I started to pray for her, I felt impressed to ask her if she was tithing, and she said, No.
As I talked with her, I knew that all the prayer in the world would not change her overall circumstances unless she was willing to walk in the biblical principles on tithing and giving. So, I coached her on tithing, and then I prayed with her over her current situation.
Friends, I can tell you that asking for prayer for God to bless your finances if you are not practicing the basic principles of the tithe and offering, is praying that God would go against His own Word. It simply won’t work! If there is one thing I’ve learned, it is that God cannot operate outside of His Word. This is why it is so important that, as believers, we learn how to align our giving with the Word of God, in order to see the full manifestation of all that He has for us.
In His Word, God has given us the keys to the kingdom and, as such, the keys to financial freedom, but it is up to us to act. And when we do, God will open the windows of heaven and pour out such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10).
Part 1: The Journey
Chapter 1: From the Beginning
When I was young, our family attended church. We believed in God, but going to church felt like something we did more out of a religious habit as opposed to a genuine love for Him. I can remember the fun activities: being on the church’s quiz team, running relay races in the gym, having church picnics down by the water, and going to Vacation Bibl e School.
I asked Jesus to come into my heart at a very young age and have never doubted the existence of God, or that He was good. In my mind, there was no question that God existed; and somehow, even though I wasn’t close to Him, I knew that He had a plan for my life.
I never knew anything about the power of God, and I didn’t really understand being born again. I struggled with wanting to be cool, wanting to be older than I was, and doing the wrong things; but still believing in God and professing to be a Christian. I remember thinking there was something wrong with me, something that other Christians got
but I just didn’t. So, I acted one way at church and completely different around my unchurched friends.
I would study and memorize Bible verses for the purpose of winning and being a good competitor on our church’s quiz team, but it was always all about the competition and never about hiding the Word of God in my heart. I didn’t even know what that meant. I had always remembered hearing my dad say, You need to memorize Scripture.
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11)
Having the ability to easily memorize Bible verses, I did very well in those competitions, but all that did was fill me with pride. The Bible says that knowledge puffs up, but love edifies (1 Corinthians 8:1). Little did I know, God would use all of this later.
Growing up in a religious atmosphere, I learned the dos and don’ts of what it meant to be a Christian, but I was missing the relationship with a loving heavenly Father. I understood
